2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

OH has agreed to another pair of shoes to go and I've spotted yet another pair that I haven't seen him wear in ages - I'll ask him about those. That leaves him with a mere 50 odd pairs I think (ok maybe only 30)
And a chap is stopping by to pick up the inflatable (hopefully!) double mattress we got when we went camping a few years back. And the sleeping bag liners. Which means I can bin the rucksack they've been in since whenever. It's a nice thing as this is the same guy that I got tomato plants from via freegle last year. The tomatoes, as is usual for me, did almost nothing (which is why I don't buy plants) but strangely a reseeded plant showed up in the garden border and is doing quite well this year.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Morning all. Tackled a few frogs early on. Nice afternoon out visiting a plant nursery in East Riding (over the bridge) - they train people with learning disabilities and autism but also supply garden centres, RHS at Harlow Carr, Chatsworth, NT and English Heritage properties etc. They have 100 native Yorkshire wild flowers that they are growing from seed. A longish drive but it turned out nice after rain in the morning. Coffee and biscuit and I resisted the urge to buy plants as I am not ready for more yet. I bought some fresh produce from their veg gardens.
Early morning trip to tip got rid of lots in garage. Big items need DS2's car. Off swimming with DGCs in a bit.
785 Two early morning frogs dealt with - more to go
786 Wooden unit, rotten wood, parasol, pelmet, carpet, damaged wardrobe door to tip (i'll only take one point as probably already counted individually
787-790 Four bags of garden waste to recycling - mostly huge old clematis that is just in the wrong place.

Good morning all
Delighted to see that the notifications are back up and running xxx
Mrs_Salad_Dodger- Love the wedding pics xxx Thanks for sharing & absolutely delighted that you had such a lovely day all round xxxxSome fabulous decluttering going on as always and I always find that posts keep me on track to keep up the basic HH chores & rehoming / selling decluttered items - So keep on posting everyone xxxxI had a fabulous day yesterday as I had both girls with me all day and I will admit, I was in my element with 2 daxies pottering around! They get on like a house on fire & Babyface taught Gorda how to use the garden ramps & that was it! 2 crazy daxies whirling up and down the garden along with digging and playing games. The duo decided that all toys were going out on the lawn but not before they threw & chased them down the ramps
The noise!
It seems very quiet this morning now that Gorda has gone back home but I'll be visitiong her this morning to do he usual checks, cleaning & feeding. Picked up sedation medication for tomorrow as Gorda has got to get her nails clipped again
as they've started to grow again at a fairly rapid rate
She absolutely hates having her nails being clipped but yet she will allow me to touch and check all her feet when she's on her back on the sofa with no issues. If I had the nerve, I would cut them myself, but it's one thing I just can't do
Decluttering sales are still ongoing although it's not as busy this month as it has been, holiday time & all, but it's given me a chance to stockpile on Mr. Sains free flatpack packaging ready to get the last lot of sale items decluttered out of the house by the end of the year - That was my goal and I'm definately on track
It's a beautiful sunny morning this morning with hopefully rain this afternoon to help me with watering the gardenBabyface has been for a very early morning run & hunt in the forest, not that she ever catches anything, but it keeps her hunting skills in check
Time for a quick coffee before I go visit gorgeous Gorda - Have a great day & take car all xx Ta-ta for now xxx

I've just realised it was 36 years ago when I worked at the fancy dress shopshort_bird, that is a very sad state of affairs 😞 I wonder if it is a recent phenomenon or if it has always been thus 🧐
so no, not a recent thing!

Hi all, quick post to say the car is fixed and home. Didn't sleep well last night but up early to chauffeur OH for blood tests then OH treated us to brunch. 😁. Just as we had finished eating OH got a phone call to say the car was ready so we went to collect it 😁. Home now and my eyes are wobbling so I am going back to bed 😂.
Take care everyone12 -
In the ongoing saga of ‘How Many More Recycling Bins Will The Council Give Us?’ we’ve now had our first combined paper and cardboard collection (both were previously recycled but sorted separately).I know a) we’ve gone to 3 weekly collections and b) I do try to opt for recyclable packaging but…..blinking heck that bin was full! It’s actually quite eye opening when you’re presented with the amount of packaging that comes into the house that then needs to go out again. We’ve still got our original pre wheelie bin bin (makes an excellent water butt) from the dark ages that the bin men collected from round the back of the house when I was a very little girl. I honestly can’t understand how we managed with that bin being collected weekly. So now rather than just opt for recyclable packaging I’m really looking at how to minimise it too.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I have small-size wheelie bins, non-recycling and glass/cans/paper which are both collected weekly. I tend to put recycling out every 2 weeks, but the general waste goes out weekly otherwise it stinks!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

The bags then got shredded by the aforementioned dog who used to enjoy sticking his head in them to fight his way out again……given half a chance the cat used to like to sleep in them. Brown paper bags were very desirable items!(*Bizarrely Derrick was also popular with small children, especially girls who used to drag their mums in to see him! As one of those little girls I’m still not sure what his secret allure was but it definitely existed).✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

We go to a refill shop and get our cleaning products, shampoo, cooking oil, dried foods, milk and bread and sometimes eggs. I won’t buy stuff if we run out unless it’s essential because I don’t want the packaging and I want to support local businesses. The refill place takes jars and bottles for their ‘Lonely jar club’. Other customers can take a jar or bottle to use.We get our meat from the butcher. I sent my husband with tupperware tubs but he didn’t make himself clear so came back with the meat in plastic bags in his tubs. At least its just thin plastic so not too much.During lockdown we got a sodastream. We mostly just use it to fizz water but use it in squash if we want something flavoured.Between the milk cartons probably 100 per year, soda water 200 per year, fizzy drinks another 100 per year you would think we would see a big difference but we still have a lot of recycling.13
