2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Mrs SD well done descaling the kettle... something I keep putting off!
While I've dropped off half a dozen bags this week it does seem like a drop in the ocean. Wondering if I have to say what do I really want to keep and then think how to dispose of the remaining , but there is justin, the high breakage rate etc but will list things this weekend. I find listing things for £ means that I accept they can go (mostly) and then I realise that they really should be given away. It's things that have to go in landfill which is hardest as I think I should be able to find an alternative home.
Trousers added to new CS bag as realise too many things picked up in the CS £2 box - novelty rummaging for a while.
Just deleted some files/folders on laptop - problem is I have multiple copies of some but with a few different things thrown in so need to go through individually as some legal documents hidden.
Off to put a wash on as wfh day.
Hope everyone has some sunshine but not take time for a cool drink in the shade of the tlc carriage.13 -
Sneaks in at the back. Hi, I haven't been here for ages.
A lot has been happening.
DIL's Mum passed, it was the funeral on Wednesday.
DD1's cat came home catastrophically injured, not by a car.He had to be put to sleep.
Ds's cat came home savaged by a fox. He is now home from a week in cat hospital but still poorly. very unhappy about not going out and wearing a cone for a few months.
Our house is sold, been gazumped on the house I wanted. I don't think it's worth more than our offer, so back to the drawing board.
I have been quite ill both with a nasty sore throat virus and my pulse and blood pressure were in my boots. Several Doctors appointments attended and more to come. I have also got a date to have my eyes tested to see if I can drive again.
Amongst all this I have eaten a few frogs and decluttered a few things. Huge holiday clothes ironing session completed. We always had a viewing so it was just left in the wardrobe until I had a couple of hours to spare. I have started to bring down about 100 stable blocks from the top garden. A bit of a job as they had been overtaken by undergrowth. I intend to take them to the new house. I am still disposing of stuff of my Mum's to various places. Also gone, a couple of pairs of socks and a shirt. Some non vegan foods given away. I have sold a rug and a standard lamp. Lots of time in the car so photos and messages on my phone deleted.I have done a bit of mending and turned up a pair of trousers. I am about to give the telephone bench another coat of paint. Sure there is more but I have forgotten.
Brambling, that's great news about your hip.
I hope everyone is well.

Hi all, reasonable day yesterday. The kitchen needed sorting again so that got mostly done but the floor needs a scrub so I will try to get that done today. Some digital stuff, 100 photos deleted from my phone and 100 emails permanently deleted. A birthday card from my stash posted and other post dealt with including some that needed replies sorted. The kitchen bin and kitchen recycling were emptied. A blood test booked and a very annoying phone call to the energy company about the not working smart meter, works for the gas but not electricity. Getting nowhere with the lady I spoke to I asked to speak to her supervisor and was told she was on holiday until Monday. Someone must be covering her so put me through to them, can't do that! So I have raised a complaint and am waiting for someone to call me back in the next 48 - 72 hours which means next week!
This morning I have booked a visit to the closing attraction at 2.30 so I am pleased I managed to get that sorted at least 😁. I have to collect the blood test from and visit the sm for a few bits and some things OH has asked for.
Right off to see what I can get done
Hugs to everyone who would like one

@vulpix so sorry to hear about the misfortunes of you and your family members. How much can one family take!! Hugs on their way. Take good care xx
@Brambling. Good luck with your hip. My DH says it’s the best thing he ever did. Instantly pain free10 -
Updates- after nearly an hour on the phone to GP, I gave up Wednesday, I'd made it from over 30th in the queue to 9th, but at an hour the call becomes chargeable and it was family breakfast time 😮💨. Called again later and have a phone appointment booked for Monday pm. I hope over-the-phone will do.- I don't seem to be able to do a tax return for 2024-5, with various thresholds moving it's not necessary. Frog disposed of! 🥳Not a lot yesterday owing to being a working-on-site day, but I did pass some white damask tablecloths on for church to use.- A final shelf of kids' books has been sorted (the rest in their rooms I'm not yet attacking), and various other things lined up for the Yard sale, we'll borrow a couple of tables from church to help with that. I've spent some of the morning liberating 2x greenhouse staging out from the greenhouse to sell tomorrow, and there's scores of plant pots I'll happily give away.- The last of the shredding is done, and I'm just waiting for there to be space in the compost heap to add it.- One more box of books packed, taped and labelled.- I've started to sort through the filing cabinet, not a horrendous job as it's reasonably tidy, but I will need to separate things related to this house, and I lose interest easily.
Feels like I've not got so much done, until I typed this up, and it looks a lot better!

My Dil called here with some summer dresses - 16! We scrapped one that was only fit for recycling.
The other 15 either want to be shortened and/or front button plackets to be sewn shut + there are missing buttons and a hole in one dress on the back seam + one dress was just the hem undone so a hand sew job.
Well I have done two of the dresses and working on a third.
I am having problems with Mr F - spent 3 hours on the toilet during the night. I am getting disturbed sleep and feel tired. When he gets on the toilet - I just can't get him to get off.
Good job we have a face to face Doctor's appointment on Monday - as long as I can move him off the toilet and out of the house!Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Finally caught up with you all. I was a hundred pages behind at the beginning of April, I think I must have misplaced my ticket for the EDT. Anyhow, I'm here now, and need to make a dent in my "too much stuff".
I just popped in to say, if anyone is trying to sew voiles, (lovely looking but slippery) I did find that spraying them with spray starch and ironing helped control them a bit.
It's too late for those struggling with them recently (@Florenceem maybe? sorry I'm out of breath from catching up) but hopefully it might help someone in the future.12 -
Take care Florenceem ,I seem to remember it started this way before .
hugs xx10 -

Mini kitchen challenge 38/50For June I'm considering running a little project similar to those familiar with Project Pan type of projects, but mine won't be make-up related, they will be stuff I know I need to concentrate on using up. I'm thinking of picking a low number of items (maybe 8) in categories like kitchen, bathroom, packaging, stationery etc and writing a list of the item I will concentrate on using. It just concentrates the mind as sometimes you have so many things to use up, you can forget. Once an item is used up, another one can cycle in. It goes without saying that I won't be using things more than they need to be used and will be squeezing every last drop out of them. The aim is to make a good dent in a low number of items, which is easier than too many. Anyone want to join me? Maybe we can see how many things we get used up during JuneI will be considering my list of items later for the things that most annoy me and need to be gone.
