2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Tried hard to find something in all the upstairs rooms, but skipped 1 room as I don't think I own anything in it (DH's stuff) and also my bedroom as I've already got rid of loads of stuff in there this week and just couldn't find anything to go.

Digital:

15 - DD paperwork recycled
1 - colouring book used up (recycled)
2 - kids scissors (charity shop)
1 - bathroom supplies used up
1 - packaging reused
1 - medicine expired (chemist)
1 - book I won’t re-read (charity box)

1 - DS jumper (donated to Beavers)

Scary really that I found that much still to go!  Clearly I have a bit more work to do still.  I did also put the rest of the frames up on the wall last night, so any kids pictures can now be stored in these.

@jellybaby - welcome to our very friendly group.  Moving was scary but I don't regret it. This week will be 4 months and I have occasional wobbles when I think of all the work to do and my lovely but way too big old place.  Having a sandwich and working myself up to whether I can paint a ceiling.  I do have long roller - how hard can it be?  Pottering in garden but trying to let everything come up to see what is there.  Mainly sorting green house and some hard areas and leaving beds to reveal what is there.  DS2 came up and took some random screws out of walls and set up DGD4's basketball hoop.  I'll go down to theirs for tea - mixed grill apparently - children sleep here tonight for school in the morning.  

Big committee papers frog munched up this morning.  Speaking of amphibians the toads have left a clutch of eggs in my pond and disappeared.  It is a very small makeshift pond DGD4 and I made in a black container.

I'm looking at my long roller and the newly plastered ceilings and thinking the same.  I'm pretty sure that once I get on with it it will be fine but in my head it's a mountain, especially as it will need a mist coat first. ⛰️

But as the weather is lovely and dry at the moment, painting my new potting bench in the garden has a higher call. 🤣 Dx

@vulpix sorry to hear that your sleep is being disturbed.
I managed to declutter 2 very small portions of soup and some salad that I've not got around to eating by passing them onto a friend.

Well if you batter your eyelashes at Mrs SD, she will let you know. She keeps the whole list for the year and lets you know at the end of the year on the thread what everyone achieved. An admin miracle ⭐️🥰

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m 
3. Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed

Forgot to post yesterday 😬 Saturday continued: Just went down a rabbit hole as someone mentioned that Stamp Prices are going up AGAIN on 7th April 2025 😠 So I have gone through my supply & made a note that I will need to buy 40p stamps for International postage which is going up from £2.80 to £3.20 My supply of U.K. 1st & 2nd Class Stamps is quite sufficient for at least another couple of years 😮‍💨 I do still believe that postage is a bargain 🙂 but am a little aggrieved at the 6 monthly price increases 😞 DH has just got back from his walk 17:00. I have been watching Crufts all afternoon & evening. Especially enjoyed the Flyball & the International Agility competition 🤩 We had spaghetti bolognaise for dinner. Wudupa

Parents/sister are here and between them they brought 30 items of stuff   Ironically even my mum talked about having lots of charity donations, getting rid of too much stuff and using up stuff (including craft supplies!).  A couple more bits out, but more work to be done...

Thanks for the welcome. Every day next week I’ve got someone coming to either repair, install or renew something in the house or garden!  My plan is while they’re here working I’ll clear out a drawer or a box of random stuff I’ve been keeping in the garage for when that just in case moment happens. 

I need to build myself up to tackling my wardrobes and larger cupboards 🙈

Which all accidently found themselves in your local CS first thing Monday morning And then give yourself an extra medal for tolerance and perseverance of ongoing decluttering

You think I'm joking, well I'm not. My mother recently turned up with a car boot full and I quickly asked her if she wanted me to sell it all online or pop off to the local tip and dump her clutter for her to save her a Tip Trip on her way home? She hasn't done it since

I'm Soooooooooooooo into Crufts today  I've taken both babyface's for their walks with babyface just finishing her dinner and is now snoring away wagging her tail while I'm glued to the TV with a mug of coffee in hand, naturally I've decided that I'm going to award myself with a coffee cup medal for every 20 cups of coffee I declutter

I'll deal with more decluttering later after I've fed the foxes
