2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

I am reading along on how you are all keeping so busy whilst enjoying some of @QueenJess delicious caraway seed cake.Slow progress here but I have emptied and reordered another kitchen cupboard. A couple of chipped items will go out. I am not doing too badly with keeping things tidy but dog moulting season is hampering my efforts. I could vacuum twice daily at the moment and the place would still look hairy!@Dizzycap - Gorgeous picture of the lovely babyface 😍
@Muddy_Walker - I know it is so hard accepting what is past when it wasn’t part of your plan. Take the time that you need to adjust and be kind to yourself as you can only go forward with who you are now. I know it sounds cheesy to say accept yourself with love but I do think that is the right thing to do and helps us with whatever life throws at us. I actually feel much better since I have decluttered a lot of my professional stuff this year.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - I am glad you had such a lovely evening and overnight stay 😊
@CRANKY40 - I like that saying of your Grandad’s!
@oceanspirit - I know what you mean about the parcels; Mr MV loves the big river site since he retired! I regret giving him the log in details 😂
@mehefin - so sad about the school fire. They really are devastating events and I am sure every gesture from a caring community is counting for a lot.15 -
mehefin said:2 bags of poo taken to library for our new planters, to go along with a load of rotten logs to go in the bottom. 8 bags of topsoil I had squirreled away when some one was having some building work also went in, so the planters are looking ready for the next phase. Oh . nearly forgot, 2 fruit tress donated by a friend were plonked in too ( an apricot and a peach - dwarf varieties) and they look really good where we have put them.
2 black bags of soft toys to the school nursery ( they were DS's and he's long left home). Staff pleased to have them, and some still had the original tags on. Quick poke of nose around the door into the area which was fire damaged whilst I was there - it looks horrendous, and the whole school still smells of smoke. They are anticipating reopening on March 6th - I'm not so sure from what I saw.

Hugs to all this morning. I'm off to Get On (albeit slowly as my stupid lower back has decided to hurt today/overnight. Cant think what I've done but some gentle stretching as I wander and move things will no doubt help)

I went through the box of dog leads and threw away three that don't fit her anymore. I recycled the plastic box they were in and put the remaining lead and collar by the front door in the umbrella stand instead. I took all of the cleaning kitchen products out and cleaned the cupboard and rearranged them. I dusted all of downstairs and cleaned the floors.
It is grey and blah out today, but quite mild. I had the back door to the garden open for a while. I cannot wait for some warmer weather and to start going for picnics on the beach. This winter seems to have lasted ages!
I was going to make a roast dinner today, but that seems like a lot of work so I might have something else instead. I'm off to make a smoothie and catch up on YT as a few people I follow bring videos out today.17 -
Good morning allI've had a lovely sleep and rest. Managed to declutter a washing machine full of bed clothes which are all out on the line in the warm windy breeze and give the bedroom a bit of a clean and hoover before cluttering up on a large glass of water and now sitting down to declutter a large cup of fresh coffee:)@ CRANKY40 - 'the struggle between rest and mental health is real but try to take it easy.' - Yes, the struggle is very real and I've lived it for a number of years. My goal for today is to get dressed and take babyface for a walk which will probably take me a while to achieve today, but I know I will feel mentally better for doing itWishing everyone a super decluttering Sunday xxxx
I can then fully rest for the remainder of the day, phone on silent, snuggled up with babyface whilst sharing a large plate of pasta with yummy homemade topping and watching either comedy or the GB Sewing Bee

Sale went well, so I have now hit target. But it still feels very cluttered, so I think I might try to do it twice. Second round will be much slower and harder though, it's all sentimental things left2025 in 2025- 2027/2025

Thank you for the medal Mrs SD. It sounds like you have had a grand day out. I love a bit of a do.
Muddy, sending love, rest and relaxation for you.
I am back from my jaunt, absolutely knackered. A few items brought home. A trip to a charity shop yielded some M n S black velvet, kitten heel sling back cruise shoes and a silver necklace which matches some earrings I already have, cruise stylee. We also visited the pottery to replace my favourite broken mug. They have a good cafe and stunning gardens in summer. A nice jaunt through the Cotswolds.
I can't say we have had a relaxing time at all, but it was on the whole enjoyable. Baby V is such an easy child. The hotel we always stay at is very luxurious, incredible for the cost but we were woken the first morning by a waterfall in the bathroom. The shower in the room above was draining through the extractor fan into our bathroom. We were moved to as equally nice room next door with a complimentary breakfast.
The knitting gang came, the voracious knitter is now doing Purl stitch. She has knitted almost all her family little scarves this week. There is a very long term building project going on in the town. A guy has stood at the end of the road to it for about 2 years only letting in residents cars and contractors. She has even knitted him a scarf! She has taken some of our donated wool and I have given her an easy child's hat pattern. I have made 2 children's jumpers and a couple of kids hats with the donated wool. Currently I am using the wool to make a blanket. I need to find somewhere to donate my makes to.
I quite agree that January and February seem to have had about 10 extra days added to each. I am proper down in the dumps which is most unlike me. I suspect it has something to do with losing my sight in one eye.Plus I am somewhat an empath and I have taken on my son and DIL's distress at the situation with her Mum. At times like this I know I need to be alone at home for a few days to de compress.
Back on the weight loss wagon for us two. I will see how i get on and have a big try on of holiday clothes in about 4 weeks.
The hotel had a full length mirror which I don't have at home. To go to the charity shop a jumper, it is far too big. It doesn't look oversized in a cute way, it just looks too big.
Take care Vx

Mrs SD - I don't use an overlocker when making curtains. I will overlock the inside seams when I make her cushions.
I weighed us both last night - no increases. I am not wearing my formal SA uniform as it is too big. It was always on the big side but I have lost weight.
Mr F went to Church with me this morning - first time since before Christmas. He got a very warm welcome and a round of hearty applause from the congregation.
One of the Ukrainian ladies asked me to help her friend - they had left unsold clothing behind yesterday and there was something in it that she wanted. I knew which 4 bags I had packed up so we went outside and I retrieved the garment.
I did some work on the curtains before I went to Church. I also did repairs on some trousers for a Church member.
It felt colder coming back from Church than it did going.
I have a sale on V so wrapping to do.

I did bring home from the SA table top sale - 3 items which I am listing to sell - vase + coffee pot + Spode dish. I will be donating money to SA.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
