NatWest only allow one payee with the same Account no./ Sort code combination. So you have change the reference no every time. I complained about this 10 years ago but they have never changed the system. Also applies to RBS and Ulster bank.gambleruk said:This is probably me being simple but with both Principality and Monmouthshire I have set up two different regular savers but when I try to fund the second one through my Natwest account it refers back to my first account as it is in my saved payee's and tells me I have to delete the first one to fund the second one ? Is there a way to have both set up with the different reference numbers ?1 -
No, a pain but there you go. With Principality, I opened an instant access account with them. I then transfer the sum of all my Principality RS to that, wait a few hours, then do internal transfers to my all my RS accounts. Much quicker than deleting & entering new account details in NatWest.gambleruk said:This is probably me being simple but with both Principality and Monmouthshire I have set up two different regular savers but when I try to fund the second one through my Natwest account it refers back to my first account as it is in my saved payee's and tells me I have to delete the first one to fund the second one ? Nationwide is the best of them, as they are set up as entirely different payees with the nickname field allowing for easy differentiation between them.flaneurs_lobster said:
With NatWest/RBS - no.gambleruk said:This is probably me being simple but with both Principality and Monmouthshire I have set up two different regular savers but when I try to fund the second one through my Natwest account it refers back to my first account as it is in my saved payee's and tells me I have to delete the first one to fund the second one ? Do you have another current account you can use (if not, why not)?
I use FirstDirect and Chase to fund these multiple same account/different reference savers, I'm sure other accounts allow it too.
With Chase I’ve ended up with both of two payees (Skipton RS and Skipton MBS) but having to select the payee to see the reference and work out which account it is (once ending in a mistake and the accidental overfunding of the RS and a wait for the payment to be sent back) and also the later account overriding the reference on the first so that it disappears. Still an improvement compared to NatWest through, as Chase are prepared to allow you to enter a different reference without forcing you to delete the whole payee and start again.

I had this problem with NatWest. They let you set up two separate standing orders to different Principality accounts, but only one saved payee. Nationwide let me save them as separate payees.gambleruk said:This is probably me being simple but with both Principality and Monmouthshire I have set up two different regular savers but when I try to fund the second one through my Natwest account it refers back to my first account as it is in my saved payee's and tells me I have to delete the first one to fund the second one ? Fair enough. I'm surprised they haven't sorted out their system so that people are prevented from even opening unavailable accounts in the first place, it would save them the hassle of weeding them out later.Bemr said:
They will close it after a few days and say that because the T&C’s weren’t available at the point of application you were not able to agree to them and so the application was invalid.clairec666 said:Not wishing to stir up trouble for Principality, but....
If you edit the value for ProductCode in the link, you can access earlier accounts which are no longer available. Looks like 6080 is issue 1 and 6083 is issue 2. Anyone bold enough to see if they can open one?0 -
No, I was not allowing for that.JamesRobinson48 said:
Are you allowing for the fact that the final digit of the account number is likely to be what's called a 'check digit'? If you are not allowing for that, then I imagine a more realistic figure would be 202 new accounts opened in ten minutes.chris_the_bee said:Principality 6 month RS
Assuming account numbers are allocated sequentially, 2021 accounts were opened in 10 minutes. £404,200 per month, £2,425,200 per 6 months.....and counting!0 -
Will probably close my Principality Healthy habits a few months early to help fund all these new regular savers.1

It's on my list to close, got like £900 inSpeculator said:Will probably close my Principality Healthy habits a few months early to help fund all these new regular savers.0 -
Just got my Principality Issue 4, really quick to get while logged in.
Hopefully the 1st of many Issue 4's 😏😉😁0 -
I have a Principality 1 year regular saver bond due to mature tomorrow, and already set up to roll to a new 6 month regular saver (because the online form offered that as an option). This would have been my third issue 3 6 month saver. Presumably tomorrow I am going to get an issue 4. And if I open an issue 4 this afternoon?
I do hope that Principality can cope in 6 months with all those accounts opened on August 28, 29, 30 and 31 maturing on February 28th.
