RedLipstick said:The 101 of upskilling is basically you take 5 job postings off linkedin that you're interesting in applying. Print them off, go through the skills and mark all the skills they have in common. You then focus on getting these skills or polish your existing skillset. You also make sure you have these skills on your CV and can take interviewer through the story on how you meet them in cohesive way at time of interview. This is also how you build up your CV so it's not a collection of not relevant bits and pieces. I assume you are familiar with STAR format since you have said you did some prepping ahead of previous interviews, if not, I highly recommend to look it up and train to follow the format when answering situational "tell me about" etc questions.
Next, I think tomorrow now though I will look for a couple of job postings and see what skills are on there, thank you for the idea, it is very helpful. 😊💕😊.
I also have a few leads for jobs so lets see what happens over the coming days, something good may happen.
Enjoy your eveningXX

I have a lodger visiting tomorrow and would you Adam and Eve it she is a young accountant! Anyhow as I have the energy I would like to get some tasks done before the night is over in preparation for the new lodger viewing, therefore a trusty list:-
1) Hoover
2) Clean bathroom - Finish after the lodger has been for his shower!
3) Mop
4) wash up
5) Empty bins
6) put away washing up and clean sink.
7) Put clothing away
8) Clean dining table.
9) R&R.
That will do for now.
I have stopped and now I feel tired - tomorrow I thinkXX0 -
I have had a viewing, she said the room is a bit small, so she may not go for it...however I did get a call from a recruiter she is putting me forward for two temp roles both acceptable conditions, lets hope and pray. XX0

I seemed to be more inclined to spend then save lately, I don't know if it is the weather or my mental health or just me psychologically. I owe MD £532 and that will go up a bit more when I get the car service and MOT done, I intend in paying back MD first when I get a job. I spent today on my card £11.99 for a soap and dish and £14.95 on food stuff for tonight. I don't know why or how I got into the spending zone but it ain't great when you are not earning! I need to zap out of it! I need a plan!
I have groceries coming tomorrow, it stands at £121.22, I have enough for this but it is a bit over my budget (£50), it is just a one off, but I am naughty for doing it really, my spending has been very erratic lately I have just knocked it down to £60.00, gosh it is so easy to spend right now. I used the extra money to pay back some to MD (£32) Now I owe MD £500!
I have another person looking at the room only it is a virtual viewing, she seems nice but I am unsure, unlike the person that saw it yesterday. There is an option I am thinking about, that is I take the smaller room and then she pays £625 for the bigger room, I have been minimising lately and I could do with the extra cash, MD says she can't see any harm in it, I could move my office to the living room, there are a lot of shelving in the room to put my stuff, now I am having doubts I like my room!0 -
Following on from the room change I have now moved my office to the living room, I have a lot of stuff under the bed that I need to sell or take to charity in the spirit of minimising to take the smaller room. It will mean going from a double bed to a single - however I would be really thankful for the money. Also if I get a job I would be quids in, it would be great. I could really save some.
The last time I worked with the recruiter that I have got the job applications for I feel very good about and she was very positive and I am likely to get a job with her, the last time I did get the job. I guess getting the right recruiter is key. I think this is the one, I do wish it was a credit controller role, but I am happy to do accounts payable for a bit also one of the jobs was quite good money, well at least the hours were good.
I am going to be patient now and hope this lady decides to use my room, she did a remark about the bed being soft, but never mind. I guess I can market it to others and see how I go. So mission tonight is to first eat dinner then get the room photo ready and re-advertise on spare room for the princely sum of £625 per month.1 -
I have a viewing booked for tomorrow although he was supposed to come today and backed out, however I will give him the benefit of the doubt. At present I am doing some baking, I am over the halfway mark, but I feel very tired. I don't know why exactly MD did get me walking about yesterday, maybe that is why, maybe also because I have been all over the place metaphorically with working out what I want to do with my life!?
Anyhow I am pushing myself to get everything done I am making bread for bunny chow and rolls for the week, dough for pizza for tomorrow, and I am being naughty and making a cake! Also to make my office space better I have found some office furniture second hand which I really like, I am planning on buying and making it a bit more secure then having all my folders out in the open. It means I now owe MD £560 just under eak...and I am yet to buy the furniture with the cash MD will give me for it, I am waiting for a message back. (I think it will be quite good).
I am not in charge of spending but I knew what I was doing I spent a further £30 on groceries I did question myself and I made the decision however unwise, However if I get a job soon I am not likely to bake again also I am not sure there will be another bunny chow except maybe bought bread.
In Summary I need to do a lot better with money then I have been doing, less spending, less borrowing from MD. If I don't get the job this coming week Once the room is rented I will be able to pay back MD roughtly £200 PM which is pretty cool when you have no job!

Today I feel like there is no routine or structure to my life, I think it had slowly melted away when I stopped prolificking. As it happened I wouldn't have lost out on council tax benefits it seems so the money would have been most welcome, I wouldn't have had to make so much before deductions. Anyhow I accidently locked myself out of the account with very little chance of getting back in, the account is shut down. Never mind you live and learn.
I do have a viewing today, he has just been and gone mid writing this. He was lovely, however he said he would think about it, so he either wasn't so keen or he just needs time to think. I have absolutely no doubts about him this time. I found him very sweet natured. I am quite sure I would be happy to have him here! Anyhow we will see there was another person interested so I will message them too.
I need to get some sort of routine together, I know I rather search for jobs in the latter part of the day when they are likely to have been added, I check email throughout the day. I guess I could write again, I seem to have lost a bit of spirit with regards the writing.
Next I am popping to MDs.0 -
I didn't go to MDs, I am deciding what to do, I will leave sorting out the room until the new furniture gets here as some of the stuff under the bed can go in the new furniture. My mission will be to empty under the bed as much as possible, I barely need anything under the bed so it is unnecessary stuff, I may be able to flog the stuff, I could start today. I also need to change the bedding for each room, so a list:-
1) Change all bedding
2) put bedding wash on
3) Sort through handbags and put on ebay any that are not used or charity shop them.
4) Plan the next item to sort.
Sometime later...
That is done I am unsure what to do next, I feel I need the office furniture as a lot of the stuff under the bed is officey and would be tidied away in there. I am minimising quite a bit, it is a bit strange saying good bye to all the impulsive purchases I have made over the last 20 years. I am only keeping what I use, I am trying to minimise quite a bit and not hoard things that I no longer use. I have a wicked scarf collection that I barely use but I don't think I can part with it especially as it can make a boring outfit a bit more fancy! and I reduced the scarf collection some time ago, although there is little use, I feel I could go back to wearing scarfs again, especially over the Autumn/Winter months.
I have been considering letting out both my room and the spare room and I live in the living/dining room, I could potentially yield £1000 from this but it is quite a small place and the potential lodger that came today said he wanted less people not more and I really like him so if he decides to come here then I won't do that, but it is worth considering I would let out the small room for £400 and my old room for £600, however there would be no space for either living/ dining as I would live in there! It is probably a bit of an extreme idea tbh. But it is anoher way to make more money if I had willing souls. I think it might be one step too far realistically, but still worth a thought.
I did make contact with another potential lodger today, just now, so hopefully I can arrange a viewing with him too. A lot of the time they are deciding, I think in their hearts it is not right for them, I know it isn't the most grandest of places to live, but I am very hospitable which can sometime be half the battle, also I am happy to accomodate any compromises etc, if they just ask or talk. Anyhow we shall see, it is a big decison especially if they have good accomodation now, I like to take my time also. But the last two I would be happy with and neither have said yes just yet fingers crossed it is one of themXX
