CrazyBee wants to be Mortgage Free!

This diary is going to be my typed up journey to mortgage freedom. I begin a new job in the New Year and the mortgage roughly equates to 46K. I have projects that need doing around the flat such as flooring and kitchen, I will be earning £1950 after tax per month roughly speaking and I also will need a car fund soon. However I have recently been unemployed for a while and so the first thing I need to do is accumulate an EF fund.
This is my plan for my finances for the progression of my contract:-
The OP each month will be £200, Bills are the bare essentials like mortgage/ car insurance/ gas electricity etc. except I have a ticket to a lottery costing £12 per month but I like to play this, you have to be in it to win it! It is the only thing that is for pleasure as I like reading the winners stories, I like to imagine it will be me one day! Likely story!
I will join the No spend thread at the beginning of 2025, my first OP won’t be until End of Feb/ Beginning of Mar when I get my second wage packet. The first will be to pay off the spending card, which should be hopefully cleared by the end of Jan.
The EF fund needs to cover several months bills, In my last bout of unemployment I found that 3K was enough to cover everything for the amount of time to find another job that I was happy with, however I would like to accumulate 6K to start so I can use the rest of the money for the flooring, however even on a tight budget, I won’t have that much by the end of the contract, there is potential that it will continue…let’s see, Either rate I will need an EF.
I am considering letting out a room on a part time basis this would bring in an extra £2700 if I find the right person, it could be quite lucrative. And could pay for the floor to be done.

Things I need to do today:-
1) I want to acquire a No spend day, I do have groceries coming however they are an essential, Also the dessert for Christmas day is not coming as they said they didn't have it in stock, however I don't want to spend anymore so I think I will leave it today, I may buy a dessert tomorrow instead, I could go to Sainsburys in town actually and use Nectar points - I may have enough for something - yes this is one of my missions for today.
2) Also I would like to make mince pies today, to share tomorrow when I am with MD and SFD.
3) Clean up operation, mostly the house is in order, but after baking I will need to make sure I have a clean place again.
4) Maybe watch a Christmas Film and have a mince pie.
All the Best.

Happy new diary! Your plans sound great
It must be a huge relief to have a new job after being unemployed so I am sure you are very focusedDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Today has gone as planned almost. I visited MD and SFD, MD and SFD were not the life and soul of the party today, but I did take over Biscotti and it was appreciated, we enjoyed lunch, I gave them their gifts SFD tried on his and it just about fitted it looked a little small but it did cover him well, which doesn't always seem to happen. However SFD was not feeling his best so went to Bedfordshire. MD went to sleep when we tried to play Yahtzee together. I am a little worried about them, they are getting on a bit, and I am worried for myself as I have no other connection to this world other then them.
I have also found a potential new flat mate, he will visit after Christmas in the New Year, I have a good feeling about this chap, the room will be let on part time basis (Mon-Fri) @£400 PM, I will have 25% exemption on council tax so I will benefit there, as I have already asked the council and they say as long as he pays council tax elsewhere it is fine. And this money will help pay for the flooring in 6 months I will get £2400 the floor costs £1300 if I were to buy now which I am not, I am still yet to get a quote for laying it.
So all in all my finances look to improve in the New Year some what, New Job, New Room Mate, however I worry about familial connection, I have one friend other then SFD and MD, so perhaps I could try and make some more connections in 2025.

I have had the Christmas dinner, gosh I am stuffed, well and truly!! I am waiting for dessert and clear up time. I plan on getting the place spotless again, then I can reward myself with dessert, yum yum - which is Profiteroles salted caramel flavour. However I feel a 'food belly about to pop pause' is required!!
