I have been called by the boss to say to not come in today, I knew it, the world did not want me to start today, first the weather then the back, then the oven now the weather again. I have just finished reading a very successful mortgage free diary, they have about £20K left to go after a few years of chipping away from £70K, I am very impressed, I have also read some other stuff. All in all it has made me want to change my approach, My new theory is to save an EF Circa £6K and just lock it away, keep some money in the bank as a sort of buffer something like £3K then forget getting kitchen and floor done and just go mad at the mortgage...this is providing I have a job for the long term or I get a new job straight away when the contract comes to an end, I guess there is never 100% security. Also I had a man view the room tonight, he will let me know tomorrow sometime. That would be a welcome £1200-2000 in the EF Pot - as he is a temporary stay, unsure of amount of time he will be here for - he said 3-5 months. I felt extrememly nervous around him and I think he was nervous, we are a right pair! I may have put him off we will see. ... sometime later... he isn't coming.3

There is many other potential lodgers out there! Keep trying, you'll find one eventually that you just click with and both get along fine.
I think that's a great idea to lock away an EF I should do this too. I have mine far too easily accessible.
I'm also feeling the same about some DIY jobs in our house and thinking I'd rather use that money for other things...MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Hi Beanielou and MFwannabe, it has been good thank you, and there is a hint that it could go permenant but all has not been revealed. Let me explain, one of the perm staff are leaving and it is my area of expertise, therefore I am going to be taking on her role, however they haven't said I am perm yet, but it is looking that way. So I am very much excited about the opportunity, they said they would pack more into my training etc. so fingers crossed anyhow it was a good day and a beautiful location and I really had a good feel day.
My back pain is still playing up but it is manageable, so that is something. I heard about a couple of refunds today I bought a watch on De.benhams (I should know better), it didn't arrive until it was too late, and they are not refunding me 100% of the money after returning it talk about piXX take! literally 80% has not come back to me it is the worse shopping experience of my life, it is kind of putting a kill joy on the day. I am checking with CC provider tomorrow to see what my rights are but I am sure this is not right. I feel like I have been robbed.
I hope you had a better dayXX

That’s great news about first day and potential for permanent 👏👏😁
What is there reason for only refunding 20% of the purchase?MFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00
