Hope you had a great day ☺️ happy new diary!
Thanks, it was a good day. I bought myself some socks which I only opened on Christmas day so it was like a surprise, they were very colourful, I particularly like the gnome ones!! Also the food was well cooked and now I have the next two days food sorted. Today I thought I would check out sainsburys for cheap Turkeys and wickes for cheap laminate flooring!!

    Have a good day allX
  • Today I have put alot of unneccessary strain on myself, I put 1397 on credit card, I am going to transfer it to 0% but I have seen some flooring it is not the cheapest however today it is the same price nearly as the cheapest as it has a boxing day discount and I have been offered a 0% balance transfer which I will complete once it has gone through. I just thought that since I could I would be doing the flooring this year and putting a burdon on myself sooner rather then later means I hope I will be extra careful sooner, my budget will stay the same for groceries and I have also spent on under garments (not discounted but cheap) I also spent £20 at Mr.S on Turkey etc, it was £6.05 it will probably do many meals. I cut it in half and put it in the freezer meant for two sunday roasts.

I have gone through my finances and added the extra burdon, with rent money credit card should be cleared by the end of Feb if I stick to a no spend from hear on out. I am taking MD to MandS tomorrow I was going to get new PJs but now I think not. I am sure I can go somewhere and not spend, I had planned it with the mind of getting a few bargains, now perhaps it is just for MD to treat herself. I may get one pyjama set I do have some prolific money. Anyhow I have invited MD out so now I must do it.

I have just had my roast from yesterday, gosh you only need a little meat to have a good meal, I used a £5.95 Chicken crown and it has done 3 meals there was plenty there especially with the trimmings. I am very full now and there is still some left...dessert next!

Although I have spent a pretty penny today I feel quite positive and I think I will reach my goals...lets see...tomorrow maybe I buy 1XPJ if there are any in the sale in my rather large size?

    All the best Crazy BeeXX
  • I am on 13/10 No spend days, so I am over the target, however there is another 5 days left of the month, if I can add at least another 3-5 days I will be happy with that.

I think I would like to reach 19 No spend days each month next year, if I reach 20 that would be over the target! I will message @cathybird to join Next month.

I am trying to have a no spend day technically I have gone slightly over the balance of the fun money so therefore I can't call it no spend, however I am hoping for a last minute survey that will fill the space!! It is a bit cheeky but will do if I can get it, which I haven't so far 😒

Today I took MD out to the shop she bought two new items of clothing, and dinner for tonight. I bought New pjs and dessert and lunch for £15.10 altogether...lunch went down well. Traffic was intense, there are so many people about it is crazy, it use to be a quiet easy to get to place, now it is heaving it makes all so unenjoyable. I won't be going out again this year, I don't think.

    Sometime later....

I got another survey and cashed it in, so it was a no spend day in the end 14 days so far, yay!
  • Okay after reading debfreewannabe321 mortgage/ budget goal setting I have decided to come up with my own goals:-

    1) By EOY:- Save £5000 in EF of which £3000 can be used for the flooring.

    2) By EOY:- OPM £1200, I plan on doing this in the first 6 months, throughout the contract, however It will be more if I get perm work and could be less if I lose my job, same for above really.

    3) By EOY:- Get Permenant work.

    4) By EOY:- Get Floor done, this can only be achieved if I keep to above goals which will be difficult as it is very restrictive, but equally doable.

    Todays list to do:-

    1) Wash up

    2) Grocery shop for MD and SFD

    3) Hoover

    4) Make lodger bed up and dust

    5) put washing on

    6) Put washing away

    7) Do bins and tidy.

I have cancelled the laminate floooring it is always wiser to have the money for it up front, as much as it was a good deal, I haven't even done a days work in the new place, so I feel compelled to wait it out. It may cost a little more in the long run, but I will definetely have the money for it.

I have calculated all potential ingoing and outgoings and came up with above entry list of objectives/ goals for the new year...one to add is 19 days No spend on every month would be a bonus. I am actually hoping to achieve more then this but 19 is my goal.

Okay so back to the list, I have just come back from MDs, (SFD is away) I did the washing up before going but there is the rest of the list which I would like to complete before doing anythig else.

That is the list done and dusted, perhap I will do a signature so I can show how I get on with goals throughout the year.

I want to have a massive bakeathon today, so I am making Lemon meringue, croissants and a raspberry cake. Fingers crossed all goes well.

    To do:-

    1) Clear up kitchen.

    2) Make pastry.

2.5) Chill pastry then roll and lay the pastry case in the tin.

    3) Make lemon filling.

    4) Make meringue and complete the lemon meringue and bake.

    5) Operation tidy up.

    6) Line cake tin.

    7) Make cake.

    8) If Oven free put raspberries on and bake.

    9) Rest until verything comes out of the oven.

    10) Operation tidy up 2.

    11) If at all possible make croissants.

    12) Bake

    13) Try everything.

    14) Operation clear up 3.

    15) Drive to MDs with her selection of goods.

    16) Sleeeeeeep!!

Major operation today, I mean serious baking...lets crack to it.

What a total disaster honestly it was awful, the lemon filling tasted good but I hadn't thickened it properly and it didn't set. Everything that could go against me did, I have hung up my baking hat. I know most people don't give up on the first hurdle, but it isn't the first time it is the third time and a big flop. The funny thing is I knew while I was baking it that it was not going to work but I didn't listen to my instincts what do I have: a runaway lemon filling!

Anyhow I will try cooking the croissants tomorrow and I'll see about the cake.

It did look photogenic, it is just when I cut into it the filling ran away!!

I feel a bit pathetic right now I need to complete major operation house tidy up once again ready for the potential lodger to view later in the week, I was also planning on cooking a feast on New Years day, so there will be plenty of meals ready and done for the coming rest of the week plus use up one half of the turkey I bought cheap.

I have been spending yesterday and today so no more No spend days to add, but I am seriously aiming for one tomorrow to reach 15.
  • Great to clarify your goals! Keep at it :)
     Debt = £8017/£8017 (100% paid - cleared 26th August 2020) Boiler Fund = £2500/£2500 (100% saved - 26th August 2021)Emergency fund = £5000/£5000 (100% saved - 5th Jan 2025) | Mortgage  = £112,153/£132,469 (15% paid)

    Goal for 2025:
    1) MFW £3905/£3000

  • Tomorrows list - House recovery and baking part 2:-

    1) Sort kitchen, put away and wash up until a perfect kitchen appears.

    2) prepare and make the dough for the croissants and put in the fridge over night.

    3) put washing on

    4) clean bathroom

    5) Change bed linen

    6) grease tin and line with baking paper.

    7) make raspberry cake - remember to put oven on first before doing anything and leave for 10 mins!

    8) check floors.

    9) Wash up.

    10) Get Turkey out the freezer and leave on the side.

    11) Prepare potatoes and carrots and parsnips and cauliflower (I want the day off on New years if I can wing it - it means being busy the day before.).

    12) Prepare devils on horseback since I have all the ingredients.

IF I get through this gigantic list with energy I will be surprised! If I get through this list of desires I will also be surprised!! But lets see what tomorrow brings!

  • Love the plans, you need to consider to post some photos here! I'm sure the lemon meringue turned out lush (I'd eat it )!

Where do you take your recipes from? I feel in love with a slow cooker and going through some cooking books but always keen to explore other options.

Looking forward to hear how the baking turned out tomorrow! Have a fab and quiet evening, rest for the busy tomorrow so it's a leg up day on Wed!  :)
