Hi CB, well done on getting a temp role. fingers crossed it works out. I looked at Rightmove and the properties didn't say of they are open market or local https://www.ogier.com/news-and-insights/insights/buying-an-open-market-house-and-living-in-guernsey/  so on;y 6% available to incomers
We have to dream, my dream is to win the PB, best was £1,000 return is better in an ISA at the minute
Thanks @Chieveley I think my mission should I get perm work and succeed and have a lodger, is pay off mortgage, then save prem bonds, my mission is by the time I am 50, but this doesn't allow for  a car or holidays! MD said why not look to Isle of Man instead she said the weather would be more suitable for me. Which is a possibility and more likely, I haven't done any research on that either (by the way thanks about Guernsey an extra obstacle if there wasn't enough!).

I don't know, I want to try and have a dream, something to work towards, I like quiet roads and peace, MD says I should go for a holiday in isle of man to weigh up my options, Johnsons do a coach trip there, i'll investigate next, but the price is more doable in Isle of Man, if I had a job I could move there tomorrow pretty much, but I want to be more prepared and really think about it!

Anyhow big dreams can wait, first job on MondayXX

Thankfully some sense has been knocked into me and I have cancelled all car repairs and changed the shopping which is now at below £50. The lodger keeps letting me down, I think he saw me as an easy target when he met me, I am lonely and easy to bend backwards. I am staying in my room and cooking for just me. I feel really sad inside again. I wish the job was enough but it isn't also I have said that I don't want the potential lodger here, I just feel too sad. I want my old life back where I was working and where I was a lot happier. He'll be gone soon. What is wrong with me?

Have you thought of joining meet up in your area to meet people?

Stop giving the lodger headspace, he’s taking advantage of you.  You are his landlady not his friend.

Have you looked at groups in your area ?

Thanks, I haven't. I'll have a look today and see what there is. MD says I shouldn't cook for him if he isn't going to be respectful. I agree. I am foolish.

    Sometime later....

I have had a little look there isn't much going on for my age group, not until I am 50!

Hi CB , second that the lodger not good for you . If he doesn't respect you he is not worth your effort . Really hope you meet some new friends at your work . Is there not a sports centre with classed on in your area , you would meet like minded people and also get fit , or perhaps a craft type class , it's great to get out , get a bit of company and takes your mind off your troubles . The best of luck for tomorrow xx

Our WI is a ‘Young’ one.

We’ve had a lady recently post on FB who’d moved to the area and knew no one so she popped a post on FB asking for friends to meet up, within a few weeks she’s got about 200 members and half a dozen different meet ups organised.

Good idea, i'll have to think of somewhere else to post because I have been blocked from FB and I can't contact them about it. Besides I don't have many friends.

You are all not going to want to hear the following, I have not gone to the job and I have turned it down because:-

    1) I did a dry run and it is too far

    2) They didn't send a contract or confirmation email of employment.

    3) They said when I applied it would be 2 days in the office but it is actually 3!

Sorry if these reasons don't sound good enough to you, but this is my line in the sand crossed.

Anyhow today I have started it with application for a remote role and as soon as 9am hits I am calling a recruiter I was hoping to hear back from.

    Also I don't have a lodger soonXX
