I have been feeling very emotional lately, it is normally because of my feelings for the lodger and he is leaving soon. But also I have not worked for 6 months I am feeling somewhat out of touch I nailed the interview but now I must nail the job. I don't feel as happy as I beleive I should feel, anxious, emotional and head achey and Xhit scared!0

I need to make life a bit easier at first with going back to work as I won't have the time to prepare fantastic meals, I will cook just make it simplified, maybe stir fries would be good. I could put together a marinade for some tofu, or use sauces and just fry some noodles and veg and meat, This would be quick and healthy...food for thought, I could quite easily eat that sort of food too, now I am thinking not!
New start new attempt at being healthy, I know I am going to be tired and won't want to bother, I'll think on this. I am doing food prep this weekend but then other weekends I won't have the energy, so I need to think easy, very easy. I have purchased today ham, chilli cheese to make ham and cheese sandwich and crisps and kiwis and apples and lemon for a mini fruit salad for pack ups from M&S.
Actually I have been spending a bit heavy and I need to stop, I have also put on my credit card the car service plus I went for a celebratory meal by myself and I have had take out, recently I bought new clothes. I am a bit of a spend thrift. Okay tomorrow I am planning on doing all the cooking prep so that I have an easy week ahead, I will revisit the shop too with the idea of being easy and try and get the amount down as it is excessive at £140, I wanted to send my lodger off on his last day with a care package, but I have spent quite a bit on this, I really want to though.

I have got the shopping down to £120, I will be doing some cooking a lasagne, which I will be proud of myself for doing plus I love it, also I am making my own pizza dough and sauce, it doesn't take much and it is better to some degree then spending the prices for pizza in the shop the rest of the stuff is just go to easy bake and cook. I have a care package sorted and everything else I need, it is my last shop while the lodger is still here so it needs to be this one, for a while I have said if I get a job I would do this as a kind gesture as he has really struggled at work and I wanted him to have something nice from the UK plus he has paid his way and been a great person to host for. And if for some reason things don't work out I can always change it nearer the time to a lower amount.
I have calculated the money for 8 weeks contract, this is how long I am expected to work before a decision is made, and I have worked out that I will clear my debt with MD, Pay off the credit card pay for all that is needed with car (providing there are no surprises) and still have £1000 left. I am not OPibng this as I may need it should the job fall through for whatever reason. Also If I am made perm I want to save a £10K pot to put towards a car should I need it. So no OPs for the time being, just hard cash building or emergency fund building specifically the car being the priority amount, I may up this to £15K But for the time being Goal actually lets not do this I have a temp contract to go to, that is all, lets see how that pans out.XX.

Your plans soon great , especially the lasagne ! Also if you feel the 8 week trial is going well you can relax the finances a bit as you know the wage will be there longer term . You really will get there in the end . Hope all goes well with lodger leaving and potential new lodger x1

Thanks @Newstartforme I really appreciate the feedback and comments. I now have a huge mission, which I didn't help today when I bought a breakfast bap - that is to save £300K or therabouts, I think potentially we are talking going to the grave having not done this - the reason being I want to live in Guernsey and the cheapest flat price is £325,000 as per Rightmove...What I need to do is get some numbers together to see if there is any possibility of doing this, and if there is, what do I need to do to get there!? I will do the calulations now....
Okay if I get a perm role and if I have a lodger the whole time, I will make £100,000 by 50 - that is no holidays and no car. Also I would have paid off the mortgage so I will have an extra £200 floating about each month when this happens! so therefore I need to win money to achieve my goal! However I want to rock savings so I make the best chance I have of getting there!
So Mission Plan should I get perm work...
1) Pay off debt
2) Save EF/ Car Fund
3) Pay off Mortgage
4) Save the Max in Premium Bonds
All by 50 years of Age! I am now 42! this is if I get perm work have a lodger all the time and keep groceries as low as possible and not be a general spend thrift. Starting from today. Also today I want to learn how to use sort in Excel, I can filter but I am still not sure about sort, also I need to make a curry, prepare some dough and make some bread for bunny chow and wash up. A list:-
1) Prep Curry ready to put in the oven at 4:30pm for dinner
2) make bread for bunny chow Purchased bread instead
3) Make dough for pizza seperate into balls and freeze Changed mind I don't need this
4) wash up
5) Work out sort on Excel using you tube or instructions on the net.
6) Write if up to it 2000 words. I am not up to it
7) Read, R&R.0 -
Hi CB, well done on getting a temp role. fingers crossed it works out. I looked at Rightmove and the properties didn't say of they are open market or local https://www.ogier.com/news-and-insights/insights/buying-an-open-market-house-and-living-in-guernsey/ so on;y 6% available to incomers
We have to dream, my dream is to win the PB, best was £1,000 return is better in an ISA at the minute1
