Two interview lined up for next week, one at a brewery and one at a commercial vehice distributor. Both Accounts receivable, both same money, one closer and more beautiful location, however the other job spec looks better. I need an uplifting weekend so that I feel my best next week. I have prepared for the interviews now, my hair has been cut well and I am most totally well rested for the interviews. I am due to take MD to the hospital tomorrow morning, other then that I am a free agent, ready to relax.

Unfortunately I had a major disaster with the cake, the new perfectly formed cake broke in half, yes it will be a miracle if it looks half decent by the time I have hodge podged it back together with jam and whatever other means I can glue it back, well at least MD laughed (so did the lodger!) even after spending £190 on it, the pieces are in the freezer at the moment and I am due to assemble on the 11th ready for the Saturday. I have swapped the extra tin for icing and flowers in the hopes I can actually piece it together well, it will come down to the day, we shall see, but I am not hopefull. MD said why not make a game out of it, guess the amount of eggs used or the weight of the entire cake!! 24 eggs and I will let you know the weight next week! but it is defientely a big un! however misshapen it will be!!

I have been feeling up and down all day, moody and a bit bored, eating and buying things I shouldn't (I am up to 3 no spend days (not today)) However I feel that life will be better with one of these jobs also I want to treat myself if I get the job on two things, One 6 dining chairs I have seen and tried and are very comfortable, I have been thinking about them for a while and secondly a desk which could be used for home working or hobbies etc, but I am in love love love with the new furniture I have seen, even though the desk has a watermark on it (reduced) I still love it and absolutely want it! I think If I work for two weeks and things are going okay I will buy them on credit card? Or save and risk them selling? Choices! I should stay risk averse! But mumma loves them! (me that is!).

Anyhow I need to get the job first, or win the lottery, I am more likley to get a job!

Today MD said she wanted to pay off my credit card as long as I keep my spend down from now and It is not needed to pay it again in the future. So Credit card should be zero once the transaction has gone through. That does mean my budget now for shopping is £60 every two weeks, I already bought a number of hair care products before my credit card was paid, so I should only need the bear essentials for quite some time.

Above is a calculation, the left is my credit card after a heavy month equates to £260 for the month, to the right is the money I have left over after bills, there is a shortfall of £41.55 roughly speaking which I now need to make up with Prolific, however with prolific I would normally get more then this, which I will put in a pot ready to save for car service, mot etc.

Obviously I am hoping I get the job at the Brewery, but you never know what is around the corner!

A reminder from last time your MD paid off your credit card, which was only two weeks ago x

    You need to prioritise
    1) Obtain and keep job.
    2) Get some savings behind you
    3) Prioritise paying mortgage

I know you are right, I just haven't seen anything like this and I haven't wanted to buy so much in a long time, and this furniture is it! I can't tell you enough how keen I am to get it! I am a rather big lass and the dining chairs not only felt very sturdy under my weight but also very comfortable, and the desk was beautiful it will probably take two months to buy, I am not sure if anyone else will buy them in that time? However with my first months wages (should I get one of these jobs) will be to OP mortgage and then what is left can be saved for the furniture, I will heed your advice and wait until I have the money for the items, I don't want MD or SFD to have to bail me out again..if they are gone, they are gone and I was not meant to get them!

This morning I am taking MD to the hospital and then there are no plans, potentially a few hours in MDs garden depending on the weather! I have lunch in the fridge from yesterday and I took out something for dinner from the freezer! I hope everyone who passes here has a good day ahead.

Thanks very much, I just hope the pieces that I have make a good looking cake, MD said if it doesn't look good we'll make a competition out of it, like guess the calories or weight!

Todays Hospital trip was very good, i.e we got there on time and did what we needed to do so all good. We came back popped into MR. S and MD bought lunch she has also treated me to a couple of bets on the grand national, I don't really like to watch because I am worried of horses getting hurt, but I do like a flutter now and again. I have chosen 'Stay away Fay' Private joke Me and MD laughed at this and 'Kandoo Kid' so wish me luck.

I am now up to 4/19 No spend days today being the additional one, also MD bought me dinner for tomorrow, tonight it is some of the chicken curry I had last week, I am hoping it is ok because it was a little over cooked first time, I will just heat up in mic with boiled rice.

I am not sure what to do this afternoon tbh, I could write for a bit but I am not feeling it, I could clean again I am not feeling it, or read, nope, I like the idea of sorting finances but what is there to sort? I guess I could plan what to do with Wages should I be successful in nailing a job! Yes this appeals to me, also how soon can I get the furniture, if I make a not so secret promise to only go when I know I have enough money for the lot, If I was to get one of these jobs I should think I would be working from the beginning of May! off I go!

This is a look at May plus a look at what I want and need list, plus what I can expect minimum if I get the job, the £500 at the top (Natwest Current) is rent money Wages for £28K per annum (deducting a pension, 1257L tax and student loan and reduction for Under payment) Bills are to the right including a £200 OP. I have at the top of my wants and needs list car maintenance, I have decided to put this in a seperate pot, the rest which comes to £640, well I am a little short based on what I have written, but I think I will pay £500 to Premium bonds per month which is for EF and Car and Holiday and then the £100 left over will stay in my account as a safety net in case I have too little in my account and slowly build, the idea is I see growth in my premium bonds, growth in my account and a pot to go to for car maintenance. However The furniture -  do I avoid buying the furniture so that I can start my list asap and build a pot or do I wait two months to start or even three as I need to start car maintenance straight away, especially as I am relying on my car! The chances of that furniture being around in three months seems unlikely!

I think the dining chair were £330 for 2 I want the full 6 - £990, the desk which I won't actually need if I get one of the jobs I have an interview for, however I did really love it and it would be good to have another desk, that I beleive was in the region of £800 (I know it is a lot for a desk! But it was beautifullly made) from twice that (reduced as well) so that is a total of £1790 lets say £1800 I have £800 left over lolly but with the Car maintenance to deduct I will have £600 - definetely will take 3 months, If I were to leave the car maintenance to save on a later month it would take £800*2 = £1600 plus I would need to find a further £200 also they may do a deal where I get a reduction if I spend so much, I could walk out of the showroom with the pieces at £1600 potentially! 2 Months but no back up funds in place.

I think if I stick it out two months in a job I will likely stay longer, so the feeling is, definetely wait and not put it on the credit card, however remain frugal and build the money to pay for it, don't go there until the money is saved as I will be tempted to buy early, then also If it is gone then I would have built up a decent pot, if it is still there then I can decide if the time taken to save for it is worth it.

Funny you should say that, probably not, however I feel the set wouldn't be right with a table for 6 and less then that dining chairs! However never say never you never know one day I may become romatically involved and they may have friends to invite! But probably not! However I am a girl guide or at least I was...always be preparedXX However 4 wouldn't be a bad number either.. I will think on that some. ThanksXX.

Yesterday the short story I wrote about lodger was published, and wait for it the lodger says that he has 3000 FB followers so we may get some purchases if he promotes it in his FB account, which he is considering! Wahoo! Also I wrote an extra 6 pages of my novel yesterday, I regret not doing any today, but that may change, the evening is very young!

I did spend today, I have had to re-jig my month ahead and I need to earn £12 on prolific for shopping and £? whatever else on fuel, so I will be trying to prolific myself somewhat!

Also I am going on a diet, I am beggining to cut back starting from 17:00 Hours today, I was supposed to do this before but I hadn't been mindful or accountable, I now have a weightloss diary, where I will hopefully be held accountable I plan on writing in it every day to keep myself in check, this is to avoid paying for weightloss groups or using meds or worse bariatric surgery!

I am counting down the days for the interviews!

    sometime later

I have just looked in my cupboard I think I can make a rather large chick pea curry, with sweet potato and onion, I may do this to reduce the need to get everything in the shop I had planned, I will reduce the shop nearer the time dependent on what I can keep, also I will have a few JP dinners to use up potatoes and beans! I want to spend as little as possible in the shop, so I will see what I can do with what I have got! Also I could do another bunny chow with the curry as I have I think the ingredients for bread, and it would be good to use up!

That cake adventure sounded epic - a story in itself - I would never dream of baking such a huge one

please don’t buy the chairs / it’s the opposite of all your careful NSD - and you still need a job and an EF first - there will always  be more chairs - I suggest you cut your cc up so you can’t spend on them !

I am impressed with your stories and getting them out there and you really interviewing a lot - you will get a great job soon
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
