Thanks Bee, that's very kind of you xCrazyBee787 said:It looks like I am going to get my Christmas Wish, I have decided that I will save £3500 for an EF which I should achieve January 1st (actually before) and I should be able to make the first of many (I hope) OPs to my mortgage. I am planning on stopping at 3.5K and really focus all my efforts on getting the mortgage down. This mortgage-free-wannabe diary is going to get some mortgage repayment action and soon!
I have decided to keep using MDs car for the forseeable, save enough on the EF (£3.5K), and then focus on the mortgage and getting that down, this is what I have wanted to do for some time. I am not there yet but this is now in my sights, I have wanted this for so long. I know it sounds morbid, but I hope I don't succeed at paying off the mortgage in quick time then not enjoy having it paid off because I die! That would suck. And other poeple would get to enjoy my money, People I am not particularly keen on. I don't have a will because I want my mum to gain on my death which she would, But if she were to go, I have no one I think yes I will give them the money. Which I would love to change.
Anyhow I am super psyched that I will get my Christmas wish and start seeing the mortgage come down seriosuly, I love how @Jessy103 has paved the way of what could be done on a mortgage journey. So here's to getting that EF and finally starting the Mortgage payemenst or at least it is in sight! 🍀🍀😊😊🍰🍰🍀🍀Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!1 -
I am on £894.16/ £600 which is 149% utilised, I am on 12/12 No spend days, there is 8 days left of the month. I have £2000/£3500 EF which is 57% of the way there, aiming for £600 to add at the end of the month which would make it 74% of the way there. Today I am wondering if my colleague will be back after being poorly, if she is then all good for tonight, if she isn't then I may get some over time, which will help with my goals, I am already 1 hour up on overtime, today I will aim for 1.5 hours, as well as yesterday 2.5 hours total and if I get tomorrow as well that would make 5 Hours, Over half a day.£61 deducting tax I think maybe it is not worth my time, but I should try and help out where I can. Actually I won't add Friday as that is a cleaning day, and I have found that if I don't do the cleaning on Friday then it messes up my weekend, I just feel so much better when the cleaning is done right away.
By the way I have asked the lodger to leave, you may feel I was being harsh but I have learnt that he is in quite a bit of debt and was planning on opening a credit account with my address on it. Maybe you think I should be more relaxed but for me this felt like a no go for me. As nice as it is having him around I am very good with money and I don't want to someone elses poor money management to affect me and my address. Also now I have locked my credit report so hopefully he won't be able to use my address on Experian, whether that is enough I am not sure? Anyhow I have done what I can. Do let me know what you think?

I personally would not be happy with anyone using my address to obtain credit other than my DS in an emergency. However that would be on his credit report and not yours. A credit report is unique to the individual and not an address.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. I agree however I don't want bailiffs knocking on my door, and I am not sure an address can't be blacklisted. Citizens advice also said that it would be the individual, however they also said bailiffs could come knocking, and some of them are quite fierce, and will force their way in if I were to open the door to them, so I feel it best not to have him here. I just hope that it is not too late, but I think I picked it up in time. MD said it is hard to get credit on a new address, so hopefully I have avoided what otherwise could have been a big problem.
On another front I have been tasked with creating SOPs in the abesence of my normal job, as I am too efficient, however this means I am now concerned that they won't keep me full time, I will say that I am not going to work there if they suggest part time because already it is minimum wage and I can only survive on that. MD says you could probably go to 4 days with a lodger, but I won't because if I don't have a lodger it will not be good, and I don't want to always have to have a lodger also I am trying to reach some goals.
The problem is the people we are contracted to don't have any other work and my colleague said today it is the sops that is it. and they kept changing how they wanted it, in the end I took a half day, but what am I going to do tomorrow? I can't face doing sops, although I will try they are really taking the mick. Why am I getting penalised for working efficiently?
Things look brighter just a few days ago, now I am faced with getting a new lodger and the prospect that my job may not bear the fruit I wish it to. I am happy to do more ledger work, but I am not sure if she (team leader) is going to give it to me, she did say she might, but she hasn't yet? Thy did say they will get work for me to do, but they haven't yet except boring sops which I am pulling my hair out about!! (Not literally - for those that want to say well stop doing that! It is just a phrase to say it is ShXte!).
I suppose they haven't threatened part time or job loss, but it is inevitable, they don't want me doing nothing I won't work part time, I don't have a slower speed, so what is the plan? It doesn't look like they have any work of value to do, I know SOPs are good to have for the business, I did actually write sops which took a while, then one boss put them through chatgpt and said follow their guidance, then the other team leader said she wanted them done a certain way, I did it that way then she said she wanted it done another way. I am wondering if they are trying to get me to leave?
I think I need to start looking for another job!

Bee, you're driving yourself crazy other something that hasn't even happened! You've not been there long, so they might not want to give you too much right away. They might be worried if they do that you'll leave. Please do not rush into anything, you worked so hard to get this job and you're doing well with your finances!
P.S I also do SOPs at work and can confirm they are a bit boring, although mine are on how to use machines, so it means I get to hang around with the factory guys watching what they do which is quite fun, bit writing it all up is not 🤣Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700
