Live gas useage is never possible as far as I know - the data only gets pulled every 30 minutes so that's as close to up to date as you can get.bob2302 said:I'm very sceptical about this being OS related - if that part of the app didn't work at all, or didn't update, that would be a different matter.
I unplugged my mini after after switching electricity to TE because it stopped showing live usage for gas. Looking at the day tab just now it's also showing usage up to the day before yesterday. This is on Samsung Android.

Yeah I expected that sadly as soon as you posted the idiot unpaired it, my initial IHD didnt work after smart meter installation, and they only got it working by getting an engineer to bring a new one and do a new pairing process, to get that done took a "lot" of phone calls.
A broken IHD may also prevent the use of bright and similar services as well, as they piggy back on the IHD MAC.0 -

No idea - but it used to work and now doesn't
So much for Octopus support..
They can't even be bothered to get back to me with a fix!!

I was referring to the half hour readings being 48 hours late, but even that turned-out to be a flash in the pan; that's the only time in the last three months I've seen any half hour data for gas at all.EssexHebridean said:

Geolocation is not necessary for the octopus app. Location permissions are asked as bluetooth will allow a potential malicious actor to work out where you are by using the nearby bluetooth devices. This was like this from android version 6 to 12. From android version 12 onwards, developers can strongly assert that the app doesn't derive physical location and give a different permissions request that more closely match's the true capability of the Bluetooth permission and is less confusing to users who believe an app developer is attempting to get your location.FreeBear said:bob2302 said:There is no bluetooth involved, it communicates with the hub via zigbee, which few mobile devices support anyway. You don't need geolocation once it's running, if you don't have a device capable of setting it up, just ask someone with a mobile to set it up for you. If it matters to you I would suggest complaining to Octopus, there's no obvious reason to need geolocation.Bluetooth is needed for the initial configuration (setting WiFi credentials). It could be done with an access point & minimal web server built in to the Home Mini, but I suspect there is insufficient memory for this.I raised the issue of geolocation with Octopus but never got a reply as to why they thought it necessary.

On the Octopus website, the only data available from the Mini is the live useage. Graphs are NOT available nor is gas data. The graphs on the Octopus website is based on DCC smart meter data, and is generally 1-2 days behind
On the Octopus app, V4.68 on Android 15, the following information from the mini is available:- Live electricity usage
- A Graph of the last 5 and 30 Minutes of electricity usage
- A "Day" tab, where usage for the current day, and days before for both the Gas and electricity is available
