  • Hi BlueJ94
May I join the challenge?  My figure this year is £3467, which is £1467 on the cc and £2000 owed to family.  Thank you
  • Me please! 16k, give or take. I was about 33k a year ago, and I've worked 7 days a week to bring this down. Credit cards are nearly 30% interest and due to my location I can't change that or get better rates.

My way of dealing with the debt is that I pay every penny of non-essentail bill money onto my cards, then spend on my cards through the month. I spend as little as possible, so the debts are shrinking.

I'm very excited about the idea of being debt free and not needing to work 60 hours a week. I'd also like enough savings to be able to buy a cheap car without debt if mine gives up the ghost.

  • Hello everyone. My total debt in my name is 4755. This year I'm gonna brave it and put the whole total as my target. Please can you put me down for 4700 and a 1% of £47. (Off to pay a bit off so it can be easier maths). I don't think I'll hit zero by next Christmas but it's worth a try. Household debt is higher but DH spending more than he pays off so I'm focusing on mine for now.
This is a similar figure to mine. Let's get rid of it this year!
  • You know you're committed to the debt free journey when.......

You put all your Christmas gift money towards paying it off.

    What do other people say?

Being debt free is a massive gift to yourself surely, so if that's what you think is best I'm all for it. There's two options either give yourself a treat as you are budgeting so strictly you haven't been able toor can't normally afford a thing you need or use it to hammer the debt and get to the end goal. Hope you had a great Christmas and by the sounds of it your debts are definitely going down in 2025!

I'd like to join again.  I managed to lower my debt a bit this year, but December was an expensive month and a hospital stay didn;t help matters as I ended up paying more for gifts inline to try and get finished.

I'll go and figure out what I owe and I will post a target tonight.
