Is any part of your ESA contributions based or is it all income related? If some of it is conts based then you will continue to receive that part of your ESA every fortnight.
    its income based.

Sometimes people think it's income based then find out upon migration it was actually both cb & ir.
Do post again if that happens, I have a copy & paste reply about the procedure from another forum- yes it happens that often 🙂

Well i am about to do the online claim but just wanted to double check about the ID part.

I have a passport but someone said to me that i would need a P60 so is that right as i do not have one as think when i got the last one i binned it thinking i would never need it.

Also will Carers allowance that my wife claims carry on during the 5 weeks from doing the online claim?

I've been through the process and advise many who are going through it, not heard of needing a P60.

Yes Carers Allowance will carry on aa normal. It will be deducted in full from the UC award. The deduction will look wrong but is right - because CA is a weekly benefit, UC is monthly and there are 4.3 weeks in a month, not 4.

Son went to job centre with birth certificate, passport and bank card. They just match it to your online form you claimed on.

You will both need to provide ID. As well as the passport you will need something with your address on such as council tax bill, bank statement or even a bank card, with your name on.

With regards to what people  are calling (run on payment). you must apply for uC on the day or following day  you are paid esa i migrated in November so was more worried about calculating payment date  before Christmas. the letter dwp sends is deliberately vague so I chose to apply the following week after my pay Week so I only received 1 weeks money not the two I was expecting and as implied in letter . On a side note Can I just ask does anybody know if they are meant to keep repayments for budgeting loans and overpayments at the same amount as on Esa it’s just I’m paying about £45 extra a month now to what I was paying on Esa. I’ve asked online. And UC response was I have to speak to debt management dept and go through my living expenses to get amount reduced which I think is an invasion as I agreed to a weekly it’s then that have reneged on the weekly amount.

I attended a UC ID appointment today with a friend and all she had was a bank card(especially useful if your ESA/other benefit and new UC are paid into it), she was asked to provide a previous address and some information about which benefit she first ever claimed...that was it she was verified and offered an advance payment on the spot..it took 10 minutes. Having an active claim or a previous claim for another DWP or HMRC benefit like ESA makes confirming identity a lot easier because they can look you up on the system. The work coach said photo ID is only really necessary if you have no benefit history or just want to verify you ID through the Government Gateway to avoid a phonecall or Jobcentre appointment.
