The S4 Avant can be got new for under £40k.
Do you mean the RS4 Avant? This is about £52k new.
BTW, I think the earlier hostility on this thread may have been down to your choice of title. Using the word 'blow' in this context could be interpreted as 'to squander' which I guess isn't in keeping with MSE.0 -
no i mean the s4 avant. looks pretty good (for an estate), young image, and i might get one for 30k. when i said 'blow' I was just meaning 'spend', using a slang term but i realise now that the connotations of 'blow' for some people mean 'squander'.
if i can get away with spending 30k rather than 40k for a car that i really like then brilliant,
i can 'blow' the remaining 10k on a diamond watch or something0 -
get a motorbike for £10k you'll get something that will eat every car mentioned and buy the missus a new shape mondeo estate sorted0

They were reviewed on top gear in comparison with the standard. It didn't convince me.

I think you ought to start test driving, you've shown an interest in several very different vehicles.
The Range Rover Sport doesn't really meet your criteria of 'Lots of ....speed' or 'young image' particularly well and you also stated 'not be too big (eg range rover)' so it it's getting a bit confusing to offer advice much further.0 -
Why don't you just put the 40k down as a deposit on a second user Buggatti Veyron :cool:0

and a ford s-max will hold its value. If the guy has this amount of cash to spend the last thing he will be looking at will be people carriers. They are the brown ale of car design and driven by people who have given up.
Go for the Rs4 more smiles per mile than anything else in the price range,
If you are considering a people carrier(and you shouldnt) get the windows tinted that way you wont see people sniggering.
excuse me i drive a people carrier for the simple fact i need more seats than a normal car due to grown up children and my grandchildren, not to the fact that i have " given up" thankyou. i am quite a young and trendy nanny who likes to be able to take all the family out together:mad:A freebie a day sends a smile my way!
