Volkswagen Touareg. But you're throwing money away with any of these cars in your fuel costs.....

Would you mind explaining why you NEED such a big car? I have never understood why people need to drive huge 4x4's and the like. I can understand for farmers and people who need to tow stuff around like boats and caravans, but apart from that I am at a loss.

Your playground insults sum you up perfectly. Your childish boasting is getting tiresome, regardless of whether or not you are actually going to purchase this vehicle.

jeannieblue, maybe I am taking this too seriously. If you guys want to keep indulging the OP then who am I to stop you. I think I've made my point, but you've every right to ignore it if you choose.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

    He doesn't need it!

Someone who has switched and changed their mind so much is obviously having you on.

Let it rest and this thread can be left to die.

Got a baby and dog, so i'm looking for something with enough room to carry everything/everyone. i would go for an estate but i think most estates look ugly, i would compromise with an s4 because of the sheer power and fun, but im concerned that it may not be the most practical for child seats/child safety, running costs will be very high and the boot may not be big enough for dog/crate/luggage/pushchair.

a 4x4 would fit everything in with relative ease, plus it would be comfortable for long trips of which i make a fair few. fuel economy is better, and it may feel safer.

originally i was thinking £40k but ive revised it down to 30k because im finding it hard to justify spending much more than this on a car. 30k would buy me either option, but i just cant decide what to go for. im test driving an s4 tomorrow so that should help me decide, but im still open to more suggestions.

my quandry at the moment is (and has been for a while):

    - fast, fun estate, also pretty safe and comfortable
    - safe, secure 4x4, not too quick but cheaper insurance and fuel

the boy racer in me is screaming go for the s4, whereas the responsible family man is saying go for the 4x4, then the boy racer says you can also be responsible in an s4, family man says yes but too expensive to run/insure...etc...etc...it's driving me mad!

riq, im not having anyone on but continue to believe that if you like, doesnt bother me but ive been very grateful for all the help and suggestions ive had from people who have actually contributed to this thread.

bert, i fail to see how you interpret this thread as boasting

vwjo, thanks for the tip on the touareg, not something ive considered so far but i will have a look at reviews/spec/price tonight.

Why not post in another thread, as you have nothing constructive to say here, apart from assuming lots of things... and I reckon there is a little green monster keeping you tied to this thread.

How about a nice van? They have loads of room in the back, and seem to be pretty much the fastest vehicle on the motorway.

I would suggest the Touraeg (spelling?) but I am feeling pretty anti-cars these days. It just seems somewhat selfish to me to drive around in huge cars, or small cars, puffing out pollution behind you.

I'm assuming this suggestion is a wind up...!

for crying out loud - this is a wind up.

The thread has been running for nearly three months and it still hasn't exhausted the supply of fools willing to indulge this troll. Please stop feeding!

Indeed. It seems that bartsimpson starts threads purely to envoke a reaction. Timewaster.
