Today, I bagged another no-spend day - NSD6 - thanks to working from home, lunch at my mum’s, and steering clear of too much time online. I kept the purse strings firmly shut!
I said no to free tickets for a musical from my dad. Not that I wasn’t grateful—it’s just that we’re already jam-packed with plans next year, and our budget’s focused on holidays and other activities. Plus, the show itself didn’t quite float my boat.
Still feeling a bit achy from body balance earlier in the week, but I’m off to yoga tonight, so fingers crossed it’ll help ease off some aches… or maybe I’ll be hobbling around tomorrow.
Feeling very grateful again today. Woke up to the usual cold, dark morning, and couldn’t help but appreciate the benefits of working from home (although they are attempting to get us into the office more). Whether I’m at my desk, on the couch with a cosy throw, or snuggled up in bed with my electric blanket on, I love having the freedom to work wherever suits my mood and energy. I think I would really struggle to go back into a workplace full-time.
Also, I’m grateful for free books from the library, for a warm and cosy home, and for my electric blanket… and tea!

Good evening turtles, and happy (almost) weekend!
Today I am feeling happy and grateful. Things are slowly going back to normal in the house, I have managed to wash almost everything, still have one load of dark Summer clothes, and then it's all done. OH is busy organising his cupboard, so there's a few boxes still around, but he promised they will be all sorted by Sunday.
Today is NSD #7, I am counting it as one even if I purchased DSS tickets to come here for the whole of the Christmas holidays - his dad promised he is going to pay for them and in the meantime I put them on the credit card, so I keep my non spend day.
I am also happy because OH got a job offer by a nice company near where I work, he will be working part-time there Monday to Friday, and in the meantime he will be able to continue working on his business and decide what to do about that, and eventually do a specialised course he has been wanting to do for a while.
Today I am grateful for DSS wanting to spend his whole holiday with us, which will allow me to spend also some time with him (I will be visiting my mum from Christmas to New Year's Eve), for OH being offered the job and for another sunny day which has dried my clothes more quickly.
Hope you are all having a cozy and relaxing evening!Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

Yesterday I came home to the fire being lit & home made Cajun spiced plaited bread 😋
Sorry for not checking in yesterday. I am calling NSD 8 today, woop woop! My best friend who's getting married in NZ at Easter called me to tell me to book a hotel at the airport, so I thought I'd lose my NSD, but no money will be taken until check in.
I needed to do the weekly shop yesterday, and I bought quite a lot more than I was expecting.... no, actually everything was on the list but it weighed quite a lot more than I bargained for, and I had to lug it all onto the bus with my work laptop and a week's worth of dirty gym kit (well that's embarrassing). Decided I'm not doing that again so instead of using a basket at the supermarket I will buy only what I can fit in my two hands!
I am in the fortunate position that my housemates love to cook and part of the rent I pay them is for that food, so I usually only need to cover my work lunches. I spent 21 euros, (including chocolate tree decs for next month), and I have decided that I will try to make this stretch for two whole weeks. I am going to prepare a meal plan so I don't waste anything, as quite a bit is fresh veg. So there's a sort of mini-challenge, if anyone wants to join me. I know a lot of you are trying to eat from the freezer this month.
I am grateful for sleeping well, for a fairly easy work day and for not having succumbed to the various bugs flying around (yet)

Still NSD #5 for me. Amazing I am keeping track and haven't lost count to be honestWork today, which was ok, though I had my share of annoying customersRotten nights sleep again as my legs hurt at night for some reason. Not nearly so bad during the day - standing and walking seem much better than lying down or sitting. A bit achey by the end of the day at work (literally on my feet all day) but really not too bad. Very odd. I have had it for a few days. If it doesn't go away I will need to contact the doctor I suppose! Old age creeping on I expect.Dinner is prepped thank goodness. There is leftover fish pieAnd OH had hoovered and lit the fireGetting quite cold here, though we saw a bit of sun this afternoon. Sadly it doesn't penetrate the dark old shop that I work in (the building is probably 18th century). And we have no heating either. Thank goodness for thermal leggings!7

@DawnW have you tried wearing compression socks? The kind you wear when going on an aeroplane. This could really help with your sleep as it helps with restless legs and leg ache. Also doing some slow stretches could help, things like standing on the bottom step of your stairs and allowing your heels to drop down to stretch out the calves. You may have tried all of this, but if not worth a try.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #828

Happy Fri-yay, turtles! 🐢
Staying on NSD 6 after spending on a takeaway for dinner tonight since OH and DS had to head out sharpish for the Scotland match.
Tomorrow will also be a spend day —it’s grocery delivery day, plus I’m off to an art class with a friend in the afternoon… not a serious one… it’s one of those ones with alcohol and nibbles involved (and probably colouring in a picture!). My friend has already paid for the class, and we’ll be grabbing lunch beforehand, so spendypants away!
Then on Sunday, OH and I are planning a trip to a big warehouse to bulk-buy essentials (you know, like canoes!)
Feeling grateful today for DS getting a positive postcard from his teacher, for him eating well at all his meals (miracles do happen!), and for having a quiet evening to myself—I do enjoy my own company now and then.☺️
Have a nice weekend xx

Wotcha turtles!Today I am grateful for an extra hour of sleep, for a good psychiatrist sesh for Pip, for getting myself to the gym, for finding some very easy piano music for carols and a small perfect gift for bil for next month, for audio books.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Thanks for the ideas to try for my painful legs @dizzyblnd. For some reason they were ok last night, which after nearly a week, was great news. I was feeling generally achey earlier in the week, so maybe it was related to that. Hopefully I have fought whatever it was off! I survived 2 days at work on my feet all the time anyway - kill or cure I thought!OH is going to visit a friend today, so I am hoping to get stuff done, though DD2 and grandkids are likely to interrupt me at some pointI need to sort out the fridge and do a mealplan, maybe put a quick loaf in the BM (the children like warm white bread with butter and HM jam, which would be a spend free treat). Also check the banks and tidy up the garden a bit if it stays fineNo plans to spend, but grandchildren may have other ideas9

Yesterday I ended up having a nsd which wasn’t planned. I thought I may end up going to a hot market for snacks and treats for film night but found some hidden away that meant I didn’t have to. Think I’m on #11 now. Today definitely won’t be as I am booking panto tickets today. It’s a lovely Christmas treat that I enjoy taking the kiddos to. And local to us so not crazy expensive.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #829

Hi turtles! Today is NSD 9. I went to a designer outlet with my housemates, looked at pretty things and said NO to all of them. I even said "no" to a coffee from a café, but only because it looked like dishwater.. so there's another NSD racked up. Very pleased. I have also made a meal plan for the next two weeks. And I've cracked open the sproutmas turrón. Oops.Student loan £5655
