Morning all, it's a bit grey this morning but not forecast to rain so am going to get the bedding washed and out on the line later. It seems to be working well with having our main meal at lunchtime but I'm sure it will be better some days than others! I think we'll find out if it's really working when we just have a toasted cheese sandwich or scrambled eggs on toast in the evening as I suspect that DH will start complaining it isn't enough in the evening. If he starts that then I've decided we'll go back to main meal in the evenings again!
I managed to get most of the skirt part of my dress done yesterday - took me ages to work out how to do the pleats but once I'd worked it out they were actually quite easy. I've just got to sew the side seams today and stitch around the pockets and then the skirt will be made. Also want to try to get the bodice attached to the skirt today.
That will then just leave me with the placket, buttons and button holes left to do before I can turn and stitch the hem. Putting like that it doesn't actually sound like it will be more than a few days of working on it!
@maman - I do use sweetener but not very much of it. I usually have about 1/2 tsp on my porridge and I usually add a pinch when I use tinned tomatoes so don't use a lot. Years ago when I first started SW I often used to make the "Syn Free" fruit roulade - it was my go to for taster mornings but I used to make 2 then and sandwich them together to make it easier to cut into pieces. I think that one recipe was probably the reason that SW decided to say you needed to syn sweetener as it took IIRC about 5 Tbs of sweetener!!!! It was nice though. In fact I haven't made one for years so may well think about making another one as it is still a low syn cake at 2.5 syns for the whole thing and can easily be cut into 6-8 slices.
Today's plan:
B - porridge, fruit - HEB; S; F
L - sweet and sour pork, rice - P; S; F
D - Jacket potato, beans, cheese, tomatoes - HEA2; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - porridge
Syns - none planned
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, a very damp and grey day today. The rain woke me up about 4.30 this morning but at least I managed to get back to sleep for a couple of hours.
We're going over to the Garden Centre today for our free hot drinks and I want to have a look in Cotton Traders which is in the store as I'm looking for a warm jumper/cardigan and haven't managed to find anything locally.
DH has ordered a TGTG bag from the newish Aldi on the Island to pick up tonight but not until 9pm! Wish it wasn't as late as that but that's the earliest we can pick it up. Hope it's better than the last one we got! There were 5 boxes of mushrooms last time and 3 packets of herbs of some sort, can't remember what but they were all the same. I still have some of the mushrooms left in the freezer! Hope it's not mushrooms again tonight as won't be able to use them so will need to be frozen again!
Today's plan:
B - breakfast hash - P; S; F
L - mushroom stroganoff, rice - S; F; HEA2
D - scrambled eggs and spinach on toast - HEB; P; S
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - Primula Light
Syns - none planned
Have a good day everyone.

(creeps back in….)
Hello all,
I’m still here! House move went really well. It’s a bit more of a project than we perhaps thought, but all good. DH seems a lot happier. I was still working the first week we were here, so only now getting used to a (semi) retired life. I applied for a local part time role and had an AI interview yesterday. Waiting to hear back on that.In terms of food - SW friendly dinners are happening but breakfast and lunches are a bit hit and miss. No excuses, and I’m not going mad, but have taken the pressure off due to the move. SIL with eating disorder is back in hospital, this time ICU where she is receiving dialysis and blood transfusions. It’s very scary and stressful for us all and tbh it’s taking up a lot of headspace. I’ve been for a run a few times which is helping.Glad to see posters old and new (151 new posts!!) and looking forward to being more present on here from now on.Coxy xxCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings1 -
Just checking in quickly with today’s eats:
B - strawberry overnight oats topped with banana
0.5 HEA (100ml whole milk) / HEB (40g oats) / 0.5 syn (1tsp maple syrup)
L - picky lunch box with cold meat, cheddar cubes, nectarine/grapes/melon, carrot/cucumber and two oatcakes
HEA (30g cheddar) / 4 syn (2 oatcakes)
D - chicken Philadelphia pasta with cherry tomato, broccoli & green beans
0.5 HEA (15g parmesan) / 1 syn (lightest Philli)
Snack - about 1/3 tiny advent choc as Red snaffled it first! (1)
It was a miracle I stayed on plan as I thought I had no suitable food for eating on the go at a busy work event with no cooking facilities so I took a lunch box and raided the fridge and fruit bowl 🤣. Two syns per oatcakes seems a bit steep but I didn’t have much cold meat left so I don’t think it would have been filling enough otherwise.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
