  • Oh and tonight I made my son’s birthday cake with him (he’s 9 tomorrow!!!) and I did not have a single taste of icing or cake batter or eat any smarties while I was decorating it … unprecedented! Needless to say he ate my share of cake batter 🤣.

@Bluegreen143 - sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and use some syns on things we'd rather not.  Certainly don't beat yourself up about it - you were well within syns today and at the end of the day they are there to be used!

Well done on not tasting any of the cake batter, icing or smarties!  Not something I'd be able to do probably but as I don't generally make cakes I don't have to find out!

    Back later with normal posting!

Morning all, back again!  It's lovely and bright but very chilly this morning.  I've done a machine load of washing and hung it out on the line and it's blowing nicely so hopefully will dry.  If it doesn't it should at least finish off on the airer overnight.

Have managed to get my dress sewn together and just have the buttons and buttonholes left to do but when I tried it on and just pinned it together it gapes a bit under the arms so I've got to try and take in the seam a bit at the top but taper it down as it fits well around the waist - the only problem is that the top has interfacing on it so will be too thick to just take in.  Going to have to have a think about what I can do to sort it if I'm to be able to wear it.

I ordered a new jumper yesterday from M&S so waiting for an email to say it's ready to collect from our localish Foodhall in the next town.  Also need to pick up a couple of bits I didn't get when I went shopping yesterday.

    Today's plan:

    B - toasted cheese sandwich, pickled onions - HEA2; HEB; S
L - Fakeaway KFC; chips, beans, corn on the cob - P; F
    D - baba ganoush; HM flatbread - S; F; 5

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
Syns -  Flour 4.5; olive oil 0.5; May have a G&T or 2 tonight or maybe some wine - will see how I feel later!

Forgot to say I weighed this morning and have lost a very tiny 0.2lb!  Pleased with that as when I weighed on Monday after our weekend away I had put on nearly 2lb so at least I've lost that and a bit more!

    Have a good day everyone.

Well done on your loss @Bluegreen143.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I bet you're pleased that you didn't put off joining SW until after Christmas.👍🏼

Is there any reason why you've used milk for your overnight oats rather than yogurt?🤔 If you used yogurt then you'd have the HEA available for cheese.😋

Good to see you posting @Coxy11. Well done for sticking with SW friendly dinners but I'd have thought you'd have time for a cooked breakfast in your retirement! 🤣

Hate to be the bearer of bad news @joedenise but I meant to mention stollen bites. They tend to be 3.5-4 syns each depending on the brand. ☹

Sorry I've not posted much lately but RL keeps getting in the way. We've eaten out a lot recently (5 times since last Thursday!) but I have mostly been on plan in between. Unless something crops up then we're eating at home until next Friday.🤞🏼

The kitchen extension is all but finished.😁 There are some outside jobs to do but they'll be put off until the spring. Over the weekend I can start bringing things back into the kitchen from where they're scattered all over the house.  I've been reluctant to do anything yet as while builders are still here and it's still a bit dusty.

I've had a SW friendly breakfast (fry up) but not done my meal plan yet so will sort that and then shop later.

Maman, I just don’t like overnight oats made with yoghurt only. I do put some yoghurt in as well as milk, as I also don’t like them made only with milk! A bit of yoghurt and a bit of milk is my happy mix that I’ve developed over years of experimentation to get the perfect consistency and taste 🤣.

I don’t drink hot drinks so I maybe don’t feel the same pressure on my HEAs as people who need to save milk for coffee etc - I have some to spare for my oats! It’s also why I’ve not switched from whole milk. I really don’t like semi skimmed but 200ml a day is plenty for me anyway.

Thanks @maman for the info about the stollen bites.  Thankfully they're all gone now!  Just got to avoid Lidl so that DH doesn't pick up any more, LOL!  He's currently trying to get me to eat mince pies and crumpets - he just doesn't get that they are high syn even after all these years of me doing SW!

Glad the kitchen is all but finished and you can start getting your things back in there.  I suspect you'll have far more cupboards now than you did before.  Are you going to post some pictures?

Have decided on G&Ts for tonight so at least it will be lower syn than if we opened a bottle of wine!

  • So glad the house move went well @coxy and sorry to hear about SIL.
@Bluegreen143 well done not eating the cake mix. Why is it so nice raw.
Hope you are all safe from Darragh. it’s a bit bracing here (but then it always is)
I weighed in yesterday with -0.5 lb loss. Slow as always but better off than on.

Happy new home and semi retirement 🥳🥳 @Coxy11.   Enjoy your new kitchen @maman

You’re doing well @Bluegreen143 and I love your menus! Keep chipping away 😁 @Matron_Midge

Hope everyone else is well and Daragh isn’t causing too much damage where you are.

SW has gone right out the window! I’ve been staying with my parents as dad wasn’t too well (nothing major and he’s on the mend) and mum doesn’t cook now so moving in for a few days was the easiest option.  It’s raised the need (again!) for some additional support to start but as usual parents are burying their heads and refusing to engage.

Compared to the amount of fruit and veg I usually eat I’ve barely scratched the surface and I feel fat and bloated. I didn’t make class this morning and I’m feeling grumpy with the world just now 🙈

I’ve written a shopping list but don’t need much as I’ve still got bits left from last week with not being here. Hopefully it will be a quick dash around and home again.  Looking forward to my old faithful meatballs with spaghetti and tomato sauce tonight with some roasted tomatoes and onions on the side.

Ended up off plan yesterday but kept the damage to dinner time 😂.

B - Skyr & fruit (0.5 syn for maple syrup)

L - leftover chicken burrito filling (free) with broccoli & a wholemeal pitta (HEB)

D - lovely non-slimming world lasagne, two slices of garlic bread, a big slice of chocolate cake and a scoop of ice cream!

Never mind though, your eldest only turns 9 once - never mind his birthday, I was celebrating nine years of being a mama! 🥰 I did save both my HEA for dinner to offset the milk & cheese but I decided not to bother totting up all the syns used in the lasagne, garlic bread and cake.

It’s a new day, back on plan. Had a protein bagel thin for breakfast with smoked salmon, lettuce & lightest cream cheese (1 syn). 1 syn for 1/2 advent calendar choc. I had a diet soft drink at the trampoline Park cafe this morning (taking Monkey to a party) and this avoided any cafe syns!

Just making lunch - baked potato with beans & cheese I think, I’m feeling bunged up with the cold so not really fancying speed food but may have a bit of fruit with it.

Ordering a dominoes for the boys who are coming tonight for Monkey’s birthday, but not partaking myself, trying out a SW sticky chicken recipe with rice and green veg.

    Afternoon all 🫶🏼
WI with 1lb off, was surprised really as out last night drinking couple of cocktails (cans) & crisps! Didn’t eat anything else though.
Tummy seems to be a bit more settled thankfully.
Last couple of weeks before hols so going to be hectic at work. Also got to rearrange our living room ready for BIL visiting on Christmas Day also so hubby can see the TV when on dialysis (bang goes me getting to watch what I want then 🙄).

Have a meal out on Thursday with my year group team, it’s a Turkish place so shouldn’t be too bad (tummy wise) not sure about SW but will try my best!

Have a good weekend all & those in the path of the storm stay safe 🤞🏻💞
