Afternoon all
Welcome to all new posters and HUGS to all of you who are poorly or have had bad news.
Have been to work today. Won't be doing much to day other than finishing my essay. Have written 2,000 words, only another 2,000 to go. Our printer is playing up. Will have a look at it later. Might have to save it to disc and get local print shop to print it off.
I don't celebtate New Year much. Used to love it when I was younger and clean the house from top to bottom. Also used to do all the ironing. my Mum still does the same. Since DS has come along, I usually volunteer to work the night shift. OH is on nights instead. I shall be up all night typing. Will be such a relief to finish it.
Have a good night to all celebrating  xxxxx0 -
Redruby----sorry I called you jet, earlier ,must of been having a blonde day!! doh!! anyway, as I recall when we first left ds1 we did it in bits, first for half an hour, then a hour and so on, it helped both of us re adjust IYKWIM'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

Hi all
Just had a phone call from the lodger, she needs picking up from the station in half an hour, I was hoping she'd stay away til the 2nd, lol.
Still, I've turned the ringer off on the home phone in the kitchen, so hopefully she won't be running up & down between rooms screeching down her mobile. I'm also considering disconnecting the fax machine too as she seems to have given out all my phone numbers, oh well, hopefully I can get a new lodger soon.

Good evening everyone! Just popping in to wish you all aHappy New Year!
We're expecting friends soon. I've made HM bread buns for butchers' sausages, HM baked beans, salad and coleslaw. I've also made a chocolate torte and fresh pineapple, and some fizz for midnight. Friends are bringing their famous games (involving newspapers, playdough, names stuck to our foreheads  or :rotfl: ) so it should be a fun evening.
It's DH's birthday tomorrow, so a double celebration. He's taken a brace of pheasant from the freezer for tomorrow's supper. I'll soon have lots of HM stock in the freezer for a January full of soup.
Have fun to those staying up to celebrate, and I hope you all have a peaceful New Year.

Pen-Pin!!! Thank you so much for that. Need to send some flowers to my Aunt(the one that lost her husband last Christmas)as she isn't doing so well. And as I have already sent some to my cousin that fell head first down her stairs on Christmas day, a friend that has moved house(even further away BOO HOO), and have another that ideally (money permitting) I would like to send. You will have saved me a fortune(wish I had one!!:rotfl: ) Have a lovely holiday sweetie.
Pen Pen your evening sounds delightful. Enjoy.
Will be back later(HA HA you can't get rid of me!!!) Have a nice evening.Ann xxxBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

Good evening everyone,
First - HAPPY NEW YEAR - i hope everyone has a very happy, healthy and successfull new year, in whatever they want to do xxx
We have had a very busy, but productive day. Was able to exchange a couple of the dud dad presents for a gift card, and DD was able to get a game for her nintendo so she was a bit happier. Also managed to get DD new school shoes, and DS his new trainers, so that was a good job done. Ive also managed to get all of next years christmas cards, i dont need wrapping paper so that saved a bit.
We also went to Tesco and Asda, and got a few yellow stickered bargains, including a piece of organic beef for £2.35, which will be lovely for Sundays lunch, and some small packs of ham, normally 58p a pack, down to 5p - so bought a load of them and stuck them in the freezer. Im hoping i wont need anything other than milk and fruit for a bit now - my new years resolution (apart from losing a bit of weight) is to stick to my food budget - treated the children to a Mcdonalds, and told them it was the last one for a while!!!!
Im sat here at the moment, having drunk half a bottle of cava - its just me and my 2 here, but we are having a nice time. Had a freezer surprise dinner, so lots of odds and ends, and in a minute, i think i might attack a box of chocolates (we had so much for Christmas  ). We are another family that dont do new year - but for me its just nice (and important) to spend it with my children, this makes me happier than going out and getting drunk (and spending money i dont have!!!).
Redruby - i remember a few years ago i rang social services to ask what age a babysitter needed to be, and i was told there is no legal age at which a child can be left alone - the only law is that you cannot leave a child under the age of 12 in front of an open fire!!! They also said that although there is no legal age, if you left a 'young' child alone and something happened, you could then be prosecuted. I think you know your own child, and know if you are only a couple of minutes away, im sure she would be fine. I also refuse to do ironing - like you said, if you hang it out properly from the WM, there are no creases!!! There are very few things that i need to iron now!!
I have read todays thread, but after the cava, i can no longer remenber much else, so huge ((HUGS)) to anyone who is poorly (glad Mioliere is feeling better now too!!) and annie - glad you are giving The Stupid Bank whatfor!!!!
So, happy new year to you all, im off to enter some comps (hoping for some BIG wins next year) and maybe play on the Wii with the children!!!
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
