Hi everyone!
A Happy New Year's Eve to all! Everyone in my household is still wheezing away so thought I'd hog the pc whilst the we're on the free broadband tariff [how very MSE of me:D ]
Plans for today are not too racy as still am not fully up to speed with this flu I've had.
I've got a freecycler coming this morning to pick up the last lot of books and at some point I've found some more bits that need listing. Think I'll leave that for a couple of days as I'm all a bit freecycled out at the mo:rotfl:
Big pile of ironing is awaiting my attention this morning and then we're off to have a cuppa with a friend. The small person will be pleased to have her son to talk Beano with and play raucous [sp?] rushing around boy type games with.
As per usual no plans for NYE...I just like to chill out with OH. We have got 1/2 a bottle of red wine [plus another] which has potential for mulling.
We had a free trip to Sussex Christmas at the Weald and Downland Museum yesterday. Many of the houses had been traditionally decorated with Christmas greenery and had the fires lit. Bayleaf had a Tudor feast laid out and we were able to try some. Delicious. Lots of marzipan [or march pane as they called it] and meat/fruit mixes...chicken and apricot etc. The expert was absolutely fascinating to talk to and I loved every minute of it!
Have a good day folks!

Good morning everyone. Sorry to see so many folks have been not too well over the Christmas holidays. We had a fantastic time in Germany with DIL's family - different traditions, but lots of delicious food and drink and really friendly people. We decided we'd do the traditional turkey and pudding bit tomorrow!
Sadly DIL's father died on Saturday, so less than three days after returning home here she and DS and DGD have had to fly back again. He was very poorly while we were there, but this still came as a shock.
We have a quiet evening planned with friends, so I need to get cracking on the food front shortly. Also need to check out my budget plans - retirement looms next December and all debts have to be cleared way before that.
Hope the New Year will bring good health and happiness to all.
(((HUGS))) to everyone today!Resolution:

Morning everyone,
Still wet and windy here with a lot of planned NY celebrations being cancelled. Doesn't really affect us as I wouldn't be going anyway.
DH did mention a few days ago going to the local Club around 10 pm but hasn't mentioned it again and I"m not bringing it up.
I'm like you Tru and they bore me to tears. I'm forever watching my watch.
We stained both balestrades upstairs today and they came up lovely. DH & I were going to buy a cupboard upstairs for our Xmas present. This is to house the new plasma TV we may get one day  and to put the dvds, cds & photo albums in. We'd picked it out and we were just waiting for the weather to behave before we make the crossing. DH has just informed me today he's going to try and make one now.
Who wants to make a bet I will still be waiting for him to finish it, in mmmmmmmm I'd say 5 years time.
Well hope you all have the best last day of 2007 you can possibly have & I'll be the first to welcome 2008 in.
Byeeeeeeeeee Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Hi every one,
Thought i`d take the plunge here and post as i`m another newbie.
I`ve been up since around 3 and have been reading on here whilst drinking cuppa after cuppa and rather than go back to sleep you`ve motivated me into defrosting the freezer and making an inventory.
I`ve been reading this site for a couple of months now and have finally joined and have saved loads on my monthly outgoings already by changing a lot of our households habits and i hope to continue with everyones help and ideas in the new year hopefully helping others out too as i get the hang of things.
Happy new year everyone!
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Morning all
Not been around early enough to join in the thread, but working today, so was up early (ish)
Hope everyone is OK, and had a great Christmas. Not doing anything tonight, and I hate NYE, it's makes me really maudlin, so just hope there is something half decent on telly to watch. Is is just me, or was telly rubbish over Christmas, bring back Morecambe and Wise I say
Chinese takeaway for tea, so no cooking today.
I sorted out my chest freezer and threw away a black bin bag full of out of date food - resolution for next year to waste less
Have a good day everyone, hugs to all those with sick relatives xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Hi all,
Crikey many of you have been up so early. Feel like 7am was a bit lazy!
Already done 2 x WM. I want to get washing up to speed, cannot understand where all these bits and bobs of clothes keep appearing from.
Nearly have a car boot full of stuff for the local charity shop. Still need to clear more. Will do a 27 fling boogie in a tick. An inventory of food stuffs sounds a good idea too as well as a scan over the finances.
Can hardly believe it will be 2008 next year, er tomorrow. Hope you all have a fab new year's eve celebration.

Good morning everyone,
Welcome to the newbies, hope you stay and continue posting, its such a friendly, helpful thread here!!!
Well, today im taking DD and DS into town for a spot of sale shopping - i bought DS a winter coat in the next sale yesterday only to find his dad had bought a coat as well (not as nice, and had taken all the labels out so i cant take that one back) but not to worry, just a shame he didnt buy his daughter something as well!!! Anyway, no idea when he is seeing them again so i dont have to worry about him - DD needs new school shoes and DS needs trainers, i might see if some of the junk he bought DD can be taken back, some of it has Argos codes on it, do you think they will take it and let her have a gift card instead? worth a try, if you dont ask, you dont get!!
Also want to pop to Tesco for milk and see if they have anything reduced, but im not bothered if they dont as my freezers are quite full at the mo.
Glad to see you survived the winds Aussie, and hope you have a lovely evening (i will be back later to wish everyone else a happy new year)- we arnt doing much tonight, but the children love the chance to stay up late, even tho i will be ready to goto bed by 10!!!!
Have a lovely day everyone,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Good morning everyone
Welcome to the newbies
Had a family conference yesterday and explained to the kids that we will be trying our hardest to try and get some savings going - DD1 is off on a school trip which has to be paid for in full by July!!! I thought it went rather well - the only one who objected to something was DS who didnt want to do a weekly bike ride (he hates exercise of any form!!!).
No cooking for me today - we are having some of the party food that i bought and havent used over christmas. Might try and get ahead of myself and get the veg ready for tomorrow tho.
Would much rather go to bed tonight at my usual time but the kids are insisting that we stay up!!! So Take That in concert tonight me thinks!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning All
(((hugs))) if needed.
Welcome elle_gee & sunnyday :hello:
Im with Tru & Aussie - I dont just get bored at New Years parties I hate them, I always find that the atmosphere isnt that great - everyone feels they should be having a great time and feel cheated if not. So tonight I will be going to bed early, OH might stay up and Ill leave my mobile with him so I dont get bothered by the texts that come in at midnight or just after. I sound like a right misery but Im really not, I am much more sociable in the summer months.
Today have wages to do this morning, a small amount of ironing and my dailies. The kids and I are off out to see Enchanted at some point & DD wants to go on the Ice rink that is there after. OH probably wont come but we will see. Might meet neice & nephew over there.
Probably will be having sausages for tea that we didnt have the other day, thats if they smell aright that is. Might play some board games later - got a minature version of family trivial pursuit - the full sized one was too expensive, if our new wii games come today will be playing them but dont think they will come till wed.
Kids go back thursday, its gone so quick, mind you they only have 3 weeks at school then we are off to Florida.:j
Off now for a surf, have a lovely day.
