oh I meant to ask a bit of advice, I am back at work on Wednesday and DD not back at school till following Mon, she is keen to stay at home, she normally goes to her nans during holidays, but would rather be at home now.
She is 13, I work literally at the top of the road and could be home in 2 mins, do you think it would be ok to leave her ? is there a legal age you can leave them alone ?
Thanks
Sue

Just had some good news - DP has spoken to the hospital and his dad is progressing well, and nagging the nurses to let him go home already! The nurse said it's still a bit early to be moved on to non-intensive care (there must be a proper word for it!) ward but they might move him late tonight.
DP is going to come home from work at lunchtime, collect his mum when she finishes work at 3pm and his sister and go to see him. If everything's still fine by then, I won't go - will stay here and carry on with the tidying up... or fall asleep, depends which comes first!
Since this morning, I have phoned the council tax people to let them know I've moved in.. only *ahem* several months after I stopped going home at night (still got my room at my parents if anyone asked up until now!) and have had brekkie and a cuppa. Going to get on with the washing up now for my Fly-wotsit challenge.
Didn't have plans for tonight anyway but will see how things pan out.. night on the sofa with a DVD methinks.0 -
Morning all
Am hiding from the clearing up. dd18 and dgs3 came over last night for dinner and to watch the Quiz of the Year - great fun until .... dgs3 had been showing off his new big boy pants and then pooed in them - eeeeew. He climbed into bed with me this morning for a snuggly wuggly and has gone back to sleep
I hate new year parties too so will just have a quiet one with dd11 - she has a dr who choclolate eating game to play. We also have a cholcolate fountain but are a bit scared of setting it up. exoh bought it from an auction along with a hoover without a pipe and a hopscotch game for dgs which has two number sixes and no number five.
have a good dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Have a pot of pea and ham soup in the slow cooker which I put in at 7 a.m. and it smells great!
Around 2p.m. need to switch on fridge and cross fingers, toes and eyes that it works!!!
Will pop out in a bit for bread, crackers and veg.
Need to get stuff to make lasagne for tonight and plan to have a really lazy day.
Hugs to everyone and see you later."This site is addictive!"

hi...guys..... well managed to do most of the washing and irning yesturday...still a few bits left in the bottom of the basket, which i am sure will breed and be a big pile again when my back is turned....
we are going to a biker party tonight kids as well..... in a cottage in the woods.....lol.. so the dog is booked into the kennels and we will pick him up on wednesday..... so before my january grocery/budget challenge starts i have got a kennel bill to pay out of it .. to be honest i dont feel like going.... but the kids want to go....they think they are camping in the garden like the last party we went to there  ( well it was summewr the last oen we went to)
we havent been out on new years eve in a few years....so i expect i better go with the flow so to speak.. prob love it when i am there...
so today i am washing the sleeping bags to freshen them up....will go through the fridge and see what needs to be usedup or put into the freezer as we will not be here.. plus when we come back tomorrow we will only be here in body not in mind lol.....
then it will be back to reality and start being a total tightwad...and then everyone will really have to buckle their belts....as in total after all the main bills and overheads have come out of the bank we only have approx £120. per week left to pay for.... food ..petrol..electric tokens....pet food...and any other general expenses.. including car and house maintenance.....
maybe that is why i dont want to go tonight.... and reality of our fiances again has hit me like a brick in the face....
but it could be worse....plus we only have ourselves to blame.....
anyway going to have a nice cuppa and a mince pie .....( well they were half price)..
if i dont manage to get get back and post later... everyone injoy yourselves tonight whether if you are partying or just having a nice cosey night infront of the tv/ computer...
and i know when we wil be doing all the toasting and what ever at 12pm i will be silently wishing everyone on mse and martin a big thank you for all the support and help i have had..... just like one big family...which to be honest without this site.. we would have prob....well i dread to think we we would be now.....
HAPPY NEW YEAR....:T  :TWork to live= not live to work0 -
Hi all
back again!
The freezer is now well and truly defrosted and i`ve finished mopping up all the water that ends up on the kitchen floor too
I now have a list of the contents so i`m going to spend the next few hours meal planning and looking for recipes then having a well earned nap to make up for being up most of the night.
I need to keep motivated so i`ll be popping back in every now and again so you`ll all be sick of me soon lol.
OO i almost forgot does anyone know if bananas in custard can be frozen?
i`ve got a few things that need using up and these are one of them.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I can relate to this and how you are feeling. As for me, I know that myself and DH have to start being very careful, but I haven't plucked up the courage to go through our finances and next year's budget yet. It makes me feel sick, if I am being honest. And I know that in 2008 I do need to start being honest with myself, and not pretend that everything is fine.
Enjoy yourself tonight.

Morning everybody :hello:
Can't believe 2007 is nearly over!
Welcome to the newbies - hope OH's dad is on the mend soon elle_gee ((hugs))
I don't really "do" New Year's Eve, but some really really good friends of mine are having a NYE party so that's where I'm goingI have booked myself one of their spare beds (they have lots - they are in a 5-bed house with no kids!) so will be coming back tomorrow morning. I had a few options this year, actually: my brother now lives in Waterloo, so is going to the South Bank fireworks with an easy 10-minute walk home to bed, and as I discovered last year, staying home is also good - I have a view of the top of the London Eye (albeit from nearly 3 miles away) and the fireworks are fab from the comfort of my own home
I was going to go to the gym today but am still in my PJs at the moment

Oh blow! I just typed out a long message and then it disappeared! Grrrrrrrrrr!
Well the main bones of the original message included:*
*the wm and dw are on
*I plan to scrub the loo and shower room - the upstairs neighbour's bath is leaking into my ceiling again but he is away so I can't get hold of him to let him know!
*dad is popping over later to collect my christmas tree, take some rubbish to the dump and hopefully hang a picture frame for me - knowing my luck, i'd hit a water pipe or something equally disasterous!
so i'd better bog off and get started...
Happy New Year all
