    Hi Everyone,

    Sunnyday/Elle_gee Welcome!!!
mioliere glad you're feeling better and hope good health continues for all into 2008 :D
Catowen Argos will give u a voucher card for the returns ... they rarely ask questions at my local one which is gr8!!
redruby There is a legal age requirement to leave children at home .. don't know what it is but am sure that 13's fine :D

Wow .. there were some early risers this morning!! I woke up at a silly time and put WM on and then went back to sleep. Plans for today include:
    - going to bank and transferring money from one account to another to meet mortgage payment :o
    - tidying kids bedroom and finding/making storage for soft toys and books:p
    - sorting all washing out

I'm really excited about 2008 - I've got a good feeling about it. My main focus (as has been the passed two years :o ) is to clear debts and generate money. This year though I should hopefully have no 'interuptions' as I have the passed 2 years.

I intend to start ironing clothes as they come out of the washing machine because at the moment ironing is a bit of a swear word here lol.

Hope everyone has a great NYE ... even if it's just reflecting on the past year and focusing on all the good things to come. I am out on the town .. with a budget of £20

(((HUGS))) to those who need/want them.

    Luv xx

  • Hello all and a special :hello: to the newbies.

elle gee glad your DP's dad is improving.
redruby how long will you be at work? I left my DS at home when he was 13 for just over 4 hours. He had strict instructions and he was also given a few jobs to do.
peony I love the Vienna New Year's Day concert! It is now a tradition of mine - though I seem to be the only one that is up and around when it's on tv.
beemuzed sorry for your DIL's loss. How awful for all her family. ((hugs))
((((hugs)))) to all those who are poorly/fed up/worrying, etc. Hope things improve soon.

I'm another one who doesn't *do* NYE. So tonight I will be going to bed with a good book. (Don't we sound like a load of miseries!! :rotfl: )

The decorating is nearly finished - DS should be arriving soon to help me with the last of it. Then I need to plead with XDH to fit the new light fitting and put the radiator back on for me. (It galls me to ask him to do anything but I can't afford to pay someone to do it for me and I don't like to ask anyone else at this time of year.)

I don't feel as though I have had a break at all - I've been off since 22nd December and I'm shattered. Back to the old routine on Wednesday and I have so much to do to get organised. Still, I won't let it get on top of me. I will do a few jobs in between decorating.

Been thinking about NY resolutions. Not sure if I want to set myself up for a fall by being too specific so I may set myself some "improvements" rather than "targets".

Right, time for something to eat then the decorating starts. Have a great day, y'all. xx

    Hi all
I`m glad i`m not the only one who dosen`t feel like joining in with the NYE celebrations but i`m going to put a smilie face on for the others tonight ( if i can get a nap that is)
We`re taking my dad out for a drink and as he rarely goes anywhere i want to make it a good night for him, it won`t be cheap though as it means two taxis as he can`t walk more than a couple of yards but it`ll be worth it just to see him enjoy himself.

OH has just taken the dogs out for walkies and i`m resisting the temptation to go back in the kitchen and start cooking or i`ll be like a walking corpse later :D

i`m feeling really positive at the moment for the NY due to you all on here and i hope i can make it last for ages, OH isn`t and is a born moaner but i`m not going to let it get me down.

I`ve been thinking about NY resolutions and mine`s going to be NOT to use the washing machine/dishwasher/slow cooker or breadmaker until late at night when the economy 7 kicks in :D

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Morning gang, hope everyone is ok today. Well back is still not great but.....better than yesterday:j :j Had aHUGE row with the idiot bank this morning. Neded to pay the mortgage as its the end of the month, but am having difficulty walking and there is no way that I can make it to Urmston and back (and as you know the car is off the road:sad:  ) DH has been running to loo (hope he isn't getting the bug)and still has tons of marking to do(school had Mocks two weeks before the break up which obviously took precident then whole school exams on the week they broke up:confused: )so thought i would ring them up. We always pay by cash as The Stupid Bank(what you didn't know what the initials stood for?????:rotfl: )very nearly lost us our home by their own stupidity(some years ago when DH was a student we reailised that we were going to hit problems and did everything "they" tell you to do. Contacted them before the problem arrose, took measures to a)increase our income and b)cut spending. I also did a very detailed budget for them. And they did......................................nothing,we were making payments(just over half) but it got passed to collections who told us we should have contacted the branch???????????????????? I knew they had all the information asI hand delivered it to them. Anyway they found it....In a drawer at the branch. What really sent me psychotic was the branch response-(all this is true honestly) He laughed and appologised saying these things happen & "my wife is always telling me I am hopeless" ended up with Chairmans office, shareholders meeting,MP all being involved. Anyway, it went to court(need to say that by this time we were back making full payments and about a third per month extra.) District Judge threw it out and wanted to know why a) it had come to court(ammount was £1,987)for this ammount and b)wht the extra money was going off the balance and not the arrears. We got costs but it was a very stressful time. Sorry for the rant. Anyway it took 3/4 of an hour, 5 phone calls and a complaint. ARRRRGGGHHHH.
    Sorry.
Welcome sunnyday & ellie gee.its nice here.
    CatOwen good luck today,
    MeanMarie thanks.

I'm not sure that there is a legal age because I tried to find out what it was some years ago when eldest dds were younger. In your circumstances I would go ahead if you think the child is capable and as you say you're only down the road. i left mne at that age and had an arrangement with a neighbour that they could go to her if there was any trouble. I set some rules about what cooking etc could be done and the only difficulty was them spending time together without a referee
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    afternoon
redruby ---i don't know if there is any legal set age. It all depends on how sensible they are. I remember leaving ds1 at about 15 under strict instructions on to have no one in and when we returned home from shopping half an hour later, he had a load of lads in smoking:eek: saying that ds1 has never been sensible, unlike ds2 who is totally different. It all depends on the child

pp---sorry you had another bad night xxxx

well, I felt better when i read this thread today, I was beginging to think I was boring and unsociable. I have always hated going out on new year and prefer to stay at home and play games with ds2 and oh. I always do special foods and have wine and  We get up early on new years day and have a huge lamb lunch and then walk the dog:T

I hoovered up and down and all the washing is up to date, don't like it hanging around for a new year, its just something my mum used to do, so I do now!!

anyway off to asda in mo, to look for singstar for tonight:T xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Afternoon everyone, been a bit busy today, sorting out decking and cleaning bird table etc. 2008 is not starting very well, dh has problems with car which will probably cost in the region of £500. Not very happy about that and its also due mot next month as well, so we can say goodbye to the first few months of overpayments on the mortgage already! Will have to tighten our belts drastically and try to still make some overpayment. Luckily the freezer is full and the cupboards are full so the first thing to do is to save money on the grocery shopping for the first few weeks of January. Hugs to all those who need them, need to go off and prepare dinner but would prefer to surf here:D will do it later:o

  • Got to share this with u, it cheered me up. DH sent in DS2 to ask if i wanted a cuppa, I said i'll have a large one and DH turns up with a litre of tea in a pyrex jug and a cup to drink it with:rotfl: What made me laugh more was the fact that we have a teapot which he didn't think to use - much more effective in a jug.
