Well, they insist on calling their current account "biscuit", so they may well be targeting it at children!

How many times on this forum have you seen users confuse direct debits, standing orders, faster payments and debit card transactions?
I think that "cashback on household bills" has a wider range of appeal/understanding than "cashback on direct debits", that's all.

I don't know why I initially thought this meant cashback of up to £125 a month 🤦♂️

I thought the same 😂
Hopefully they don't actually restrict the types of DDs to actual household bills and are just using that wording to try and keep the explanation simple

Refresh date for the direct debit cashback.
I moved a direct debit over in October, believing that the 'refresh' on the account was 1st January. I got roughly seven pounds in Oct, Nov and Dec, so £21 in 2025. Have had the same amount in Jan, Feb and March, so totalling £42 altogether, so over £30. Making it look like the refresh date is 1st Jan.
My partner did something similar with slightly more going out each month, in Jan he got £8.40, but has had nothing in Feb and March. His total is showing at over £40, so he must have got slightly more than the cap on 2025. Contacted via chat, bot then person then specialist person who said the 'refresh' date for OH was '01/10', so that was why there was no payment in Feb and March.
What do others believe as I haven't been able to find anything to back up by belief of 1st Jan ?

I think the relevant date is the anniversary of account opening rather than 01Jan. If you opened your accounts at different times then your annual DD caps will reset at different times.

They may regret that when people start asking why they did not receive cashback for paying their household bills by debit card or Faster Payments!

They have got that bit covered at least:
https://www.zopa.com/help/article/how-does-cashback-work
You'll earn cashback on bills paid from your Zopa bank account.
This applies to any Direct Debit payment you make from your account, up to a cap
and

†The £192 figure is made up of £30 cashback, based on earning 2% on up to £125 per month of household bills paid by Direct Debit,
