Zopa Current account

Options
I just logged into Zopa and it's offering current account states beta. Not available to everyone yet.

Had anyone applied, any issues/reviews.

Do they carry out full credit check or soft checks.

Thanks

  • Well I've got one but can't tell you too much about it yet. Only applied to get 7.5% reg Saver.

Soft search on application, needs photo ID. CoP set up quickly, FP of a quid took seconds. Interface on app is clear enough.

Must say that the debit card looks a riot, pleasing after all the usual monochrome minimalist slabs.

I just signed up for the current account and regular saver. So simple, just a couple of questions and a selfie although the first photo was rejected so I had to do it again but overall so easy.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

Can you please post a picture of the debit card? With the details censored obviously.

Not sure if anyone has a physical card yet, bit soon after launch, but here's a  screenshot from the app

I signed up for the regular saver plus the 2% cashback on up to £1.5k of DDs, which don't seem to be ruling out any DDs.

Consequently my Moneybox nominated account has now been changed to Zopa and a DD is being created at this very moment. I'll pull £1.5k through it once this has been done to get the cashback then keep using the account for the regular saver.
My reasons for signing up match yours.

With regards to the DDs I decided to check if there were exclusions & after a very long chat (mainly because the agent didn't seem to be sure, & she kept disappearing for long periods) I was reassured that any direct debits will qualify.

However I have a question, has anyone managed to set up a DD? When I tried to change the DD for my Lloyds credit card, it wasn't possible because the Zopa account wasn't recognised.

How soon after creating new account did you try to setup new DD? My payment to Zopa was CoP OK but was day after, maybe too soon?

I managed to set up the account from my Halifax account the next day. I initially transferred £10, which took almost 9 hours to be credited, being reassured that a payment would go through I transferred another £291, so that I could deposit £300 into the RS & leave £1 in the current account. The second transfer arrived in the Zopa account almost instantly as faster payments normally do.

It was the following day that I tried to set up the DD. I was surprised it wasn't possible given that I'd successfully set up the ability to transfer from Halifax, a member of the same banking group. I've decided to leave it a few days in case the Zopa account, can't be found on the CoP system due to being new, but I was curious to know if my experience was unique.

I too have opened this Zopa account. I already have some savings with them and when I accessed, via the app.,  couple of days ago, there was an invitation to open it.
I had a Metro Bank account that was more or less dormant. Closed that via "chat". Credit where it's due it was closed without fuss, no question as to why, only "I've done that for you."
I'm going to wait until the Debit Card arrives before carrying out any transactions etc..
Opening was fairly straightforward, however, the "selfie" took a while to complete. Move closer, move slowly, move away, move slowly etc.. I can understand why because someone could just stick a photograph in front of the camera lens.
Not having some form of photo i/d could be a problem? eg. no Passport or Diving Licence.
