My first complaint last month was in writing by secure message and they didn't bother to properly investigate before denying it. This week I called them and the agent re-checked everything, spoke to their manager, and we came to a final settlement on this mess that covered the next payments so they agreed I'm now free to leave early.WillPS said:Put a complaint in writing and submit it via secure message, branch or post (make clear you expect to be compensated for the stamp additionally if you do this).
That'll stop the runaround.

Thank you for letting us know Alex, you have been very patient, and quite honestly you have shown the Co-op Bank up for the embarrassment to the industry they are, hopefully Coventry BS will sort them out (they will need to).@Alexland said:

In that case I'd just be sending it straight to the FOS.Alexland said:

Life is too short. The compensation means they did end up paying me more than expected even if I had to work for it and as a bonus I have now learned to never bank with Coop again and as I am free to leave early the account is currently being switched to Santander where I already hold a main 123 Lite account although had to open an Everyday account to qualify for their £150 incentive.WillPS said:In that case I'd just be sending it straight to the FOS.
Once that pays out then I should be eligible to take the donor account to Halifax or Nationwide next time they run switch offers as I was only slightly ineligible the most recent time based on my previous switch dates. I've started opening Nationwide accounts for the possibility of a Fairer Share bonus and hopefully under the next offer they will let me switch into the new existing account.0 -
Account switch done.
Deposit made
Two credit card DDs are set up on it.
I have the card in my virtual wallet
I'm registered with online banking
So just 10 transactions needed ....this is going to be annoying, even if I'm just buying 10 items in Lidl. But I'll do it.
I saw something earlier in the thread about penny transactions or something which I didn't quite understand. But any top tips would be gratefully received.0 -
Just buy the cheapest item possible and self scan them at quiet times. You might be able to get a carrot for 1-2p if it was small enoughWindfallWendy said:Account switch done.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

There's a whole stack of ways to make a payment to yourself in effect on a debit card in a thread. Can't work out how to post a link but here's a copy and paste of the title;Nasqueron said:

However, for the MSE purpose of spending as little as possible while getting the reward from the bank, 10x debit transactions at a supermarket for the cheapest items that are of use may be better. Carrots at Sainsbury's are 69p a kg loose, or essentially 7p per 100g, find a carrot weighing less than 20g gets you a 2p transaction. I found Sainsbury's Christmas biscuit packs were listed as 19p but came up on the scanner as 6p so that was easy and some fun for the officeSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Re supermarket spend, I guess the advantage of using things on the debit card list is you are literally sending the money to yourself in a lot of cases, from the comfort of your own home, although there is a certain rigmarole to then drawing it back to your main bank account I know.0 -
There are two ways - either copy/paste from your browser or you can use the tools on the post - just type some text and highlight it then click on the icon that looks like a chain and it brings up a window where you can paste a links71hj said:
