Could anyone confirm that an "active" direct debit does not need to actually collect money each month to get the £25 stay bonus?
I confirm it. An active direct debit is one that is set-up and hasn't lapsed through inactivity for 13 months, either since it was established or since the last payment. I today had my second £25 confirmed although one of the DDs did not have a payment this month (i.e. not within the 30 day timeframe).

Maybe the switch team were visited by the 3 ghosts of Christmas and persuaded the be less stingy?

    Excellent, thanks.

I'm not sure if it's due to my habits but I appear to no longer be able to make deposits to my PayPal via Direct Debit, but it's still showing as active (actually active 4 times...) so should be ok.

... meaning I need to send them a secure message again :s
Oh dear is this how we are supposed to spend the first 3 months of 2025 chasing £25 bonuses that don't pay? Maybe this is their way of punishing people they can see are only doing the bare minimum transactions and are clearly still running their main accounts elsewhere.

The email that requirements for the first £25 were met arrived the first day after the qualifying period ended - exactly one month after the email confirming that requirements for £75 have been met... It contained a reminder of the dates for the second qualifying period.

  • Right, well I'm having all sorts of problems with NatWest, so I'm going with Co-Op, not least because I can't resist their regular saver any longer!!

Just submitted application - wish me luck!

I've had an email from Co-Op saying that I have an account, but in a few days they are going to upgrade it to an Every Day Extra account. I feel I have already been beaten by the system as that costs £15/month, I think?!?!

Oh, hang on. It says *if I applied* for an Every Day Extra. Which I certainly would not have done. But I'll have to keep an eye on this.

It's a very confusing email though since it is trying to cover all bases in one. It tells me I will have to wait for processing in order to use online banking, and then tells me that if I applied for Every Day Extra, that I can log in to see if my insurances are already live (despite saying I can't use online banking until the account is set up?!). So... I'm not very impressed with them so far.

Yes it's a really confusing experience. I've just started with mine and it feels like going back in time. I've funded my account but it's not showing up, how long did others need to wait?

I haven't called them to do the visa secure thing. It's let me do one payment already (a quid to my gas company) using funds that were transferred with the switch. I can't do any more until the money I've sent them shows up.

It took about half an hour for my money to show up, and I completed the other 9 payments okay without being asked to set up the verify thing.

I tried transferring some of my money back and it's in the ether somewhere. It's left co op, I haven't been contacted about fraud concerns but it hasn't arrived at the destination. It's after midnight now, and I see that the transaction is listed as today rather than yesterday, whereas the incoming money was listed as yesterday. Both were between 6 and 7pm.  I wonder if doing it during working hours would mean it arrives same day? I'd rather not lost the days interest on it elsewhere, I'm only doing this to get the bribe, this bank feels tedious. The upgrade to the premium account is so prominent, I might click it by accident because I'm clumsy. And when entering anything all I can see is blank screen, the important stuff is underneath my keyboard and I have to click out of it. Ugh.

Also this is the only bank I've known to randomly decide whether to use the biometrics or not when logging in.

Minor moans I know, but this feels like the most painful of all the bank switches 😭

No doubt I will feel the same pain, but my only alternative to getting £150 involves a full day of work or even longer sorting through crap in my house to try and sell 😄 So on balance I am hoping it will be a relatively easy £150. I just need to keep comprehensive notes to myself to remind me to do all the things.

And also, the regular saver deal is going to be worth it too, I hope.

The way I always look at these things is to think how long all the "work" involved will take me and conceive it in my head as a notional "hourly rate". In that case this one is somewhere just under or just over £300 and hour.
