I've now begun the process of a formal complaint - Nothing received in terms of any cashback at any time throughout the whole promotion. I chased them regularly through this period - to be continually told all will be ok - then yesterday the rep stated - ah but you have two cards - this promotion only applies to the one you haven't used - not the one you have used. I asked where did it state which card to use - it didn't. I also stated that the promo was a simple opt-in and the clear message of 'use your card' - and not 'use your card with this card number'. So she's gotten the ball rolling for an investigation - a waste of my time - but I won't be letting it go.

Good luck! Their customer support are blatantly making it up as they go along.

For the amount of cashback I'm owed i don’t think its worth my time and energy chasing further, but if you’ve had no cashback at all and you’ve jumped through all their hoops, id definitely push it further.
Takes literally seconds to raise a complaint via bots, I'd do it for 10p if I was sufficiently annoyed by the firm :D

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Every-time I've tired to contact them via the chatbot, i get told i have to call them, so I just don't bother with it anymore.

Pop a piece of paper in the post. Tell them you expect the cost of the stamp to be factored in when compensation is determined. Or take it to a branch and tell them to put it in their internal mail.

It's a waste of life trying to do it any other way, I've decided.

I agree with you on this - the terms and conditions on the email I received were very vague and not exactly clear. I did get my cashback till late on the 17th - I had settled my bill so it left me in credit

It depends on the bot but I've managed to do it fine with another bank just by stating "raise a complaint" - there is a thread o the banking forum though about a bank trying to stop complaints being opened though. If the bot doesn't work, they should have a form on the site, it sometime triggers a go away compo payment too like £25

Following my complaint raised a couple of days ago - someone from hsbc called me today and upheld my complaint and issued compensation of £150 that would cover the maximum cashback value. I’d likely earned in the region of £100 cashback so it was an agreeable offer and have accepted it. Quite a faff all the same - but a positive outcome in the end.

I just got a call from HSBC complaints. They've looked through my statements and agreed I should have recieved about £15 of cashback for October. They credited the cashback to my account. Happy days!

On 15th January I'd received £48.55 cash back. I thought it should have been the full £50 as I did a decent shop just before New Year, but just left it.

Anyway, checked my account today and an extra £1.45 was credited yesterday :)
