Problem is that this has an associated Global Money account, and I believe this needs to be closed first (that's what HSBC say in general about closing the Advance account), and I can't find instructions for closing this. As the balance in the Global Money is zero, it is possible that I can switch without closing it0

Tried to do the switch. Nationwide says I cant have the offer and the account after soft search. My credit score is not great
anyway around this?0 -

Were the accounts you previously benefitted on a bonus on still open? Every claim I've seen of multiple payments have occurred when the person closed down the account they received a bonus on some time ago.
Interesting... I have 2x current accounts, one of which is a longstanding current account which I've received an incentive before. It is still open. The other I opened during the last offer and switched into, but didn't get an incentive for.
I suspect while that account you've previously had a bonus on is open you've little chance of sneaking in with another bonus; I don't know for sure but my assumption is their check looks for the "Switiching Offer" transaction on all accounts where all account names match, but seemingly it can't find it on accounts which have been closed (for some time?).0 -
They seem to think I already have a product with them and need to update my details. I only gave my name, date of birth and postcode and I've lived here for 28 years, had my married name for over 20 years so what exactly do they think I need to update? I could call them tomorrow I suppose.0

I'm just going by what I read/hear about.0 -
I have opened my flex direct account and sent the £1000, but I can't get it out as Nationwide is forcing me to use one of those card readers that I suppose I will have to now order from them. I can live with the £1000 being stuck but its not ideal, so be wary if you don't have the card and reader before doing the transfer.
My mistake for not trying to flip £10 first0 -

Just a pain as I need the money out to go into regular saversSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

i'm pretty sure they give the option to do away with the need for the card reader if you let the app take a live photo of you? i seem to remember seeing it as an option when i was asked to use the reader last week for the 1st time in an age.0

If you have a card reader from any bank (Natwest Group, Barclays, Co-op/Smile etc) it'll work. You might be able to nip in to a branch and use or borrow one too.
