Ah how lovely you were thinking of me after all of these years @pigpen
Yes curtains are out of the wash. Think I need to do that, as don't have enough airer space to dry them on. x
I've also managed to hoover all of the living room walls and ceilings to get rid of cobwebs, as well as the lampshade. My arms are aching now. lolEnjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20176 -
Well after trying to reunite the linings with the curtains and also trying to work out how to re-gather the header tape so they are in pinch pleats again (I don't have the metal pinch pleat hooks), I've given up trying to do it myself, and have phoned my Mum (who made them) and she's going to help me do it tomorrow. For the moment, one of the curtains is pegged to the track to dry (and in lieu of having an actual pair of curtains), and the other is stretched out over 2 airers, as they're too long for my washing line.

Done nowt other then peg out washing. Been swimming then popped to M&S but had to do a loo dash back into the house so the shopping is still in my car. Good evening, I’ve recently downloaded this app again. Today I’ve cleaned the whole house and done the laundry, got that ironed and put away. Took DD to the doctors then came back and washed the dog’s bedding as the weather is good.
Dinner has been eaten, everything washed, dried and put away, sides cleaned and now sitting down with a cuppa.Sarah xTrying to change my life and will:money:8 -
Evening all. Just winding down after a busy day. Flying wise, just the dailies got done.
GI - the DGDs are 3yrs 4 months, one will be three in a month and the other is just one month old. DH helps look after them too. DGS is due early next year.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Hello @sexymouse and @Teapartymum I've been here for a few months but I'm probably new to you if you haven't been on for a while.@Honey_Bear congratulations and I hope you have a great time (and that your cold is better). I wish you were nearer, I think we would get along very well. If only I had known you needed a champagne taste test - you could have outsourced that to me.
Speaking of outsourcing, I do some ironing but not very much. I sent the shirts a couple of years ago when things were getting on top of me and once you've had someone else do it, well....... I've since added the bedding but everything else either isn't ironed or I do it myself.
I received a card from our elderly friend in Plymouth who has had a stroke. His handwriting, which was always absolutely beautiful, has really deteriorated because of the stroke unfortunately. He reiterated (3 times I think) that he doesn't want me to go and visit him which I had offered, via his nephew, to do. It's his birthday soon and he also said he doesn't want any presents. He always says that and we always ignore it but maybe this year we shall just send a card. It's all very sad as we have known him for decades and have always kept in very regular contact, although when he left London and returned to Plymouth (the place of his birth) we necessarily saw him a good deal less and our contact was more through weekly phone calls and letters/cards, although until the pandemic we would meet him occasionally in Exeter. Once we could, in theory, travel again A was no longer up to travelling all that way. He has a formidable intellect (which is undimmed) and has always been very independent and having now to reply on others for his day-to-day care and finding even reading (one of his great pleasures) difficult is horrible for himThis morning I went to the big M&S and bought a few bits, including a pain-au-chocolat, which was nearly as nice as those I get from the posh bakery. We don't normally have them during the week but we share one so it's not too bad. After that I took the linen table cloth off the dining table and put it on to wash and replaced it with the everyday cotton one. I used one of those sachets that are supposed to clean/brighten etc. but it came out with a small red wine stain still visible. Neither Vanish nor the Lakeland equivalent removed it so I'll try washing it again tomorrow but with a sachet specifically for whites, which is what I normally use for it, and see what that does, if anything. It's a vintage one (1950s I think) but I've looked after it so I really want to get this stain out. I must ask my brother what happened to the damask tablecloths my mother had. If he's still got them I might ask if I can have them as I doubt he would use such a thing.I also bleached the kitchen sink and washing up pad, wiped down the worktop, did a bit of indoor gardening, took a bag of rubbish down and prepped lunch and supper and washed up a couple of times. I've put out A's breakfast things and meds, given him his night time eye drops and cleaned my teeth and will read for a bit before going to bed. My back is playing up, which it has been doing on and off for a few few weeks.5
