Again from Trustpilot:
Manigo are the issue
On holiday, card declining and no access to any other money. Only way to contact them is an email or voice message. Had an email back after 24 hours saying they know about the problem and thank you for my understanding!!! No update on the resolution or timescale. We now have 2 very hungy children living on water!! Avoid this company at all costs.
Update- 11/09/24, Monavate and Manigo are both linked to weswap, Monavate hold the funds which are held securely. Everyone will get their money returned over the next few weeks. The problem lies with Manigo who weswap use as their service provider. Rest assured I have been in contact with people from Monavate. Correspondence regarding the issues should be sent out within the next week with the steps in getting our funds back. As mentioned Manigo are the company at fault here, our money is safeguarded with Monavate.0 -
UPDATE from my 13th Sept post:
It appears that the card operators behind WESWAP cards hold the funds!
Monavate have emailed me to advise they are handling my situation (and hopefully many more) but with a back-log.
Digging into the WESWAP site useful info is at xxxxxxx
WELL I CANNOT post a link........ so here is the text from the site:
"WeSwap partnersWeSwap have partnered with Manigo and Monavate limited to provide our redesigned, faster and stronger WeSwap app and all the new features to help you to stress less and travel happy.
Who are our partners and what do they do?
Monavate limited are the electronic-money issuer as well as issuer of the WeSwap prepaid Mastercard. They are an FCA regulated electronic money issuer.
Manigo is WeSwap’s partner in the delivery of the technical services that provide functions like swapping your funds, spending, transferring and splitting bills on your WeSwap app.
Where are my funds held?
When you load funds into your WeSwap account, they are received by Monavate limited in a secure safeguarded bank account linked to your WeSwap Prepaid Mastercard. WeSwap receive information of the load and then the funds are added into your WeSwap account wallet.
How secure are my funds?
The funds held at Monavate account linked to your WeSwap Prepaid Mastercard are stored in a secure safeguarded bank account that is independent to Monavate’s business accounts. The funds are safeguarded and If anything should happen to either WeSwap or Monavate all your funds would be repaid in full. WeSwap don’t have access to these funds. "

I already posted all of that. Didn't you notice?0 -
Thanks to SimplyBetter for the reassuring updates.
So, in summary, as I understand it:
A company called Monavate hold our Weswap money securely but a company called Manigo are the conduit for us accessing our money and they are the ones unable to deliver their part of the WeSwap service.
Those in no hurry for their Weswap funds will be contacted in due course by Monavate about returning their WeSwap funds.
Those in more urgent need should contact Monavate directly.0 -
On holiday, card declining and no access to any other money. If true, it's hard to imagine such foolhardy behaviour when traveling alone, let alone with children..!It looks to me as if WeSwap began outsourcing components of their complicated method of providing travel money, perhaps because it was proving less than lucrative, and promoted the new arrangements as 'improvements'. We can only hope that their customers are not finally left to suffer the consequences.
Evolution, not revolution0 -
Looks like someone from WeSwap has been sending a stock reply to all disgruntled reviewers on Trustpilot. The advice is to email support@monavate.com including WeSwap account number, to arrange repayment of funds.0

Thanks Simply Better. I followed Blackthorne’s email address but got no reply so far. I also thanked MSE_James for considering us. Do you have a contact email for Manigo and Monavate? I am encouraged by the idea that our money is ring fenced and sincerely hope that it’s the case.0
