Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

It's good they are being so proactive in actually telling people their switch failed so they don't end up using a load of electricity thinking they are paying 5p / kWh....I wonder if they are complying with their obligation to automatically pay compensation for the failed switches? https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/get-compensation-problems-switching-energy-suppliersWith their ongoing failure to bill SMETS1 customers, their discounts must be huge now, selling electricity below cost price and now seeming being liable for a huge number of £40 payments that they will almost certainly not pay and turn into £80 payments, surely the writing is on the wall.

I am currently on Octoplus tracker. They sent offer of keeping my current rates fixed for next 18 months.
TE Lifestyle however seems like it could save me £180 for the year. But now not sure haha
2 weeks in and so far so good. Charge my battery overnight and top up on solar in the day.
Bought 235kWh in total for a grand sum of £15.87 + SC. Averaging 9.5p kWh including standing charge
Those 2 weeks had i still been on octopus agile would have cost over £50
MyWatts works a treat as it has done from day one
All in all i'm one happy chappy, no more showering at the cheapest rate times, full battery every night for less than a quid and 2 happy kids that aren't limited to screen time(well beyond what is reasonable that is)
If TE can survive(and i really hope they do) then hopefully any kinks that others are enduring may become a thing of the past and we all get to enjoy cheaper energy
Yeap, if it were not for TE i would have be sitting in the cold these last 2 weeks, as that 5 hours of 5p has allowed me to get some heat into the room, and even at 23p i can now make something hot to eat and do normal things, as since novemeber last year agile has been just awful and was a utter miserable time, oh and that 42p sc beats the 62p i had.....so fingers corssed everyone coming to TE helps them stay here as we need more competition at this time.3 -
6 weeks since switching. No data in mywatts and no bill2

I have a few posts in this thread yesterday about wrong, strange or incorrect meter readings being used by Octopus and/or Tomato for my end/start readings.
Does anyone know of an app or software that can pull the meter readings from my smart meter so I can find out what a reading was for the day I left Octopus.
I have loop, bright and Mywatts but can't seem to see readings for a certain day.2 -
Tomato Energy seems to be offering quite a better deal compared to few other providers. It seems to have mostly good reviews on TrustPilot, however, clearly the experience on this forum has not been positive. I am wondering if anyone on this forum has had better experience with them recently?0

Nobody writes anything as there's no much to write? Prices are the same for a fixed year, myWatts reports almost live, bills come at the begin of month with direct debit week after, money is taken, off to the next. Never needed to contact customer services. All works fine.
Averaging close to 10p/kWh without battery/car/solar/gas.0 -

I just joined them 2 weeks ago, and everything went smoothly, the swap went across on the date stated, and mywatts was showing my data a few hours later, and so far it has all went great, and my first bill will be on early March.......so fingers crossed......but when i joined octopus in July 2022, they installed a SM which last 3 weeks before it failed, they then took 3 months to get someone out to do a power cycle, this lasted 1 day before the meter stopped sending anything again, it then took them another 3 months to get a second new meter installed.....so when it comes to TE i have a lot of slack to give them at the start as nothing can be worse then the 6 months waiting for Octo to do anything back in 2022, and they cost me money for their faulty SM because i was on the agile tariff, but Octopus kindly charged me variable rate for 5 months because their smart meter failed and it took them 6 months to fix it correctly, which was nice of them........so i doubt TE could come close to that mess.1 -
@Boohoo. This has been my long standing criticism of the Octopus system: That it has not been possible to check meter readings directly from the site but only indirectly by interpolation or whatever. This leaves a gap for misunderstandings when it comes to sorting out discrepancies - which should never happen but in practice always do.I wonder sometimes how to get Octopus to plug this gap, and in the interim what the least fiddly way round the problem is.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know3 -
