Dumb meter, upload reading every month of the MyWatts site.
I wonder why it took so long then..
Was it worth the 15% for them?
They had the numbers, just needed to multiply  by rate 😜
I read about the issues with TE but thought it can't be that hard I supply a reading every month, how wrong I was.
Still have ongoing issue that's with the Ombudsman https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6582448/energy-ombudsman
The D86 flow issue is still ongoing. As of today, Octopus owes me £40, I presume due to this. I shall remain quiet, but I expect they will notice and credit it within 10 working days to avoid having to pay out another £40. Once paid, I'll be pushing them to agree a final bill based on the meter reading I took on switch day, or their own smart reading from the day before, whichever they prefer. Then they can go through whatever process they need to to sort it out officially.
It seems TE has focused entirely on "advanced TOU" even from back in their Logicor days, so if I were a dumb meter customer, I'd be looking at alternative suppliers given the rates are not good enough to put up with the hassles.

    On that I disagree.
I read the meter once a month, I know exactly how much my cost is at the end of the month, if TE doesn't bill me I'm happy as money stays into the account and could get a further percentage off my bill. I'm not going to chase them for a bill Also I don't have to check if the hourly reads tally up.

Would I still switch knowing what I do now? Yes, as as long as TE lasts will be over £300 better off in the year with the cost of a few e-mails and a bit of form filling that has taken well under an hour. At that rate I'm more than happy to continue.

I am surprised you are able to save that much. When I looked at Prime-October-2024, potential savings vs SVT were only about £75, and other suppliers offer tariffs where I could save about £40, making the difference quite insignificant. A saving of £300 per year is definitely enough to put up with some difficulties and risk of being dumped onto a SoLR.

I didn't think it  would that much to start with, and if everything went smoothly it would be anywhere near that  I do admit I didn't consider the screw up with the transfer. I expected billing issues was possible but being a simple one reading thought it would be ok, and not in any rush to receive bills as the money is tucked away.
If I was someone that gets stressed about issues like that I wouldn't never had switched, but I don't.

The £40 was credited promptly and automatically yesterday night (but as a non-customer I have to ask them to withdraw it, usual facility won't let me). I suspected it would be done efficiently. Now onto the task of getting them to issue a final bill with a closing reading I'm willing to accept.

If only automatic credits were given for lack of billing.

Switched over 23 December, my mum and dads former home which is empty, really for the lower standing charge.  Within a week, had my final bill and refund from Octopus.  I am nearing 2 months now and no bills from Tomato.

The 2nd generation meter is sending readings as 3 show on my account and I can see the minimal usage each day.  As it stands I am not bothered as this is an extra outgoing I am happy not to find money for.

So far, I would not move my own supply to them and have noted the discounts being offered to people with first generation meters in regard non billing.

Keep in mind that more than half of the country (especially those with dumb meters) doesn't have proper billing - yes they keep paying monthly an estimated charge but that is just a pure guess. TE could have done the same, estimate your usage, keep charging you a random amount and then adjust once a year when somebody knocks on your door to get the readings.. (and no, self taken readings don't count, they just improve estimation, as people do mistakes, can lie etc.).

Here at least you can see how much they've spent, put it into saving account and when the bill arrives you'll have more money than the bill asks for - plus the later you get the bill the lower it will be - potential "late" bill discounts.

I switched from Octopus on 10/2/25 and got my bill from them the same day.
I gave Tomato the reading on my start date.
Today I got a bill from Octopus for £12 for 1 day for 47 units according to octopus meter readings.
Today I checked Mywatts and there's a new reading which means I have used 140 units in 11 days.
I only use 7 to 8.5 a day so something is wrong.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Does your octopus bill quoting the same reading you gave Tomato? Does mywatts show your opening reading?

    Yes they are the same.

Octopus was a smart reading and I gave the same reading to Mywatts.

I did not take a photo of the meter as it's under the stairs and due to having bad back was unable to get on me knees to take photos.

The hub was showing 2 units more than Octopus but that should be correct as it was 8 am.

I have checked the meter earlier and Mywatts is showing 40 units more than the meter is displaying.

Something is not right with Tomato's estimate/reading.
