Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

I wouldn't recommend committing fraud, which is what that could be if you signed up on that basis without having a battery - would depend on what the T&Cs are, whether the contract requires you to have a battery to be on that tariff.coupleuk said:HillStreetBlues said:
So my reading with Tomato it's SC 60.35p Unit 20.91p fixed for a year.
I know it's possible Tomato might fold, but if excluding that risk seems like a no-brainer to move, or am I reading the figures wrong?
Do a Quote Request with Tomato and tell it you have a storage battery - your standing charge will come down to 40p
For several hours at night its 5p and for a period during the day its 13p - the rest are around 22p (IIRC)
Unsure if they later check to see if you are drawing energy during the night to charge your battery - I will wait and see with mine.

It looks like the FB Group is as responsive as TE!!! I have also been waiting since yesterday morning to be accepted.1

And for what it's worth, they follow the clocks so the cheap period is Midnight to 07:00 throughout the year.Reed_Richards said:I'm on an EV tariff with Eon Next but my meter only records data on one register. Eon Next seem to generate statements at random intervals. I strongly suspect this just happens when somebody gets around to doing it, whereupon they take my half hourly data and feed it into the bill calculating computer.Reed1 -
I haven't a smart meter, not that I would have done it if I had one.Spoonie_Turtle said:

Oh no I wasn't even thinking you might, but I see how it came across, sorry. I genuinely meant, I wouldn't be making a recommendation to do it, as the other commenter did.HillStreetBlues said:

A user may have a battery but the charge from utility company not required as the solar panels do it.Spoonie_Turtle said:

Or, the user may be planning a battery installation
Etc etc
Either one would be reasonable but not actually interact with the supplier as the tariff would imply0 -
Anyone know how quickly the first DD is taken?

I was looking for a yes or no from those that are with tomato and have set it up and any pitfalls or if its not possible.(I couldn't find it easily on the website hence asking, probably just me)lohr500 said:

This thread is all about tomato so thought it was a valid question I and others might want to know and any pitfalls setting it up with them if they do offer it.
I see this thread as a go to for future potential customers and they can read about the good and the bad.
I am running the numbers for out heatpump and 4kwh battery storage/solar project (not connected to house but used to run the tumble dryer, gym and office heat and outside cooking etc.)
We pay variable DD either Octopus but that has recently failed they don't take any money or bill at the moment so something has gone wrong so any responses form others that have been with them for a while woukd be handy.
