Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

>Alex_ST I was billed for 17 days Standing Charge only in their "final electricity bill". No £80 yet though..how did you receive it?

They just sent it to me. Didn’t apply or anything.

Anyone get a Tomato final bill?

I left before they went under and my lat bill did not even state "final bill"

I have a bit of an annoying situation with this: long story short, Tomato had been overestimating my usage and at the point of their collapse I had paid for 527 more units than I'd used.
(British Gas opening meter reading was 48805, and I was last billed by Tomato up to an (estimated) meter reading of 49332 which was paid.)
British Gas won't help with the overpayment and the administrators have ignored every message I've sent them (and I'm not sure the administrators is the right path to follow anyway). Does anyone know where I stand with this and what the best way to proceed is?

The administrators were unable to negotiate for BG to help them with final bill issuance, so it remains a problem for the administrators. Given what they said about lack of access to Senapt systems in their initial proposals document, they may not be in a position to reconcile accounts yet. I'm not sure what regulatory protections you would have in this situation. The money is supposed to be ringfenced, so I don't think this means you would be in the same position as other creditors, but may have to be patient while the administrators try to negotiate access from the directors.
Where did the 48805 reading come from? Was this a reading you supplied to BG? Were you on their standard tariff (not TOU)?

Any credit you have is protected by Ofgem, so assuming there's no money in the Tomato coffers, the money will eventually come from all other consumers, collectively. Judging by the eccentric way Tomato was managed it could be a long wait for the actual financial position to be established.

It might end up being a case where customers must send in their latest bills to Ofgem/EO to get the final calculation and claim this protection. I think that would be an unprecedented situation.

48805 was the opening reading given to BG and was what I was billed from until my final bill when I left a couple of weeks later. I was on whatever tariff they SoLR'd me in on (not TOU).

I was referring to your tariff at Tomato Energy. An estimated meter reading is irrelevant unless you were on Tomato Prime. You would have been billed only based on half-hourly usage if on Tomato Lifestyle, Smile etc.
