Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

It is, yes.

A family member left Tomato Energy for Scottishpower at the end of October when administration was on the horizon but hadn't just happened. They then later left Scottishpower for EDF, who they are still with.
They are still waiting to get their Warm Home Discount. It was supposed to be paid to the electricity company you are with in August (Which would have been Tomato), but as she is no longer with them and British Gas has had no dealings with her as SoLR, who should be responsible for paying this (or has she lost out) ?
She made contact with her current provider EDF who say they can't help.Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

When I've had to contact the WHD service people, they've always been personable, polite, competent and effective. YMMV.
I'm not being lazy ...
I'm just in energy-saving mode.1 -
Thank you. I've spoken to them and they assure me that despite not being moved to British Gas as part of the SoLR, the responsibility for Tomato Energy Warm Home payments remains with British Gas.
They've advised to wait until the payment deadline at the end of March, and if they haven't been in contact to them chase with British Gas. I've decided to escalate it with British Gas in the meantime however, as my initial e-mail to them (a month ago) remains unanswered so I don't think it is going to be a quick and easy process.1 -
They have two ToU tarriffs - EV with 8.5p from 0-5am and heat pump 5-9am and 13-16 for 13p, then 29p outside of these hours.
clearly stated on their website neither is required - EV/heat pump.
ive also considered Utility Warehouse E7 tarrif with 6.5p at night and 30p rest of the day if you also take some other their stuff - and that wasn't that bad - they had sim only £5 for 10GB.

Both of those are a little shorter than I would have preferred though.
The heat-pump tariff in particular leaves an 11 hour gap from 16:00 - 05:00.

Yeah, nothing as good as Tomato out there :)
I've had the same issues, happy with cheaper hours with Good Energy but I'm worried I would lose all the savings during premium hours 16-5am. Currently with Agile and for the past 3 months I've averaged at 17.5p/kWh.. then there's Home Energy with one flat rate of 19p,
I'll wait to see what happens with rates in April and may move again.

Yeah, sticking with Home Energy for now. After six years of EVs sick of jumping through hoops to use electricity.

It was 6.6p/29p when I signed up end of last year to fixed1yr tariff which was best available. At the time my smart meter was still not working but they fixed it this mth & honoured original price. Customer service has really set them apart for me.
They also pay 15p for exported energy.0 -
Looks like an option for us if I fall out with Octopus, who are slightly cheaper at the moment.
