Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

I got around to calling today, answered straight away, I stated I haven't had either of the two £40, confirmed there hasn't been a £40 credit raised for delayed bill, I asked for final bill to be reissued with the credits on it. Will have to see if they apply both the £40.WBCPB said:
Ditto, although i have a formal complaint via the ombudsman, they have until 1st October to give me my £80 compo or the ombudsman has told me they will re-open the complaint ( i accepted their 2 point resolution of sending final bill & paying the £80 )HillStreetBlues said:I received my final bill dated 2nd Sept, they gave a 15% discount on the usage (not SC), but no compensation for the late bill, or the delay in paying that no compensation, will phone them a bit later.

I hope they continue, but am struggling to to how they can as clearly the current setup isn't geared for the increase in customers.tlcgrantham said:Received my final bill on time a week ago. As has been the case throughout for me everything was correct and paid by DD today. My sincere wish is they survive so I can rejoin later.I moved to Fuse mainly for gas but also fearing SOLR with Tomato. Fuse also has been ok so far and similar in price to Tomato without load shifting.
When I just called the person said she was checking the spreadsheet of my account and now wondering how basic their system is.

Tricky one right?
Either OFGEM allows them to get new customers or they find a investor.
It's been 10 days since OFGEM deadline, they paid that 1mln settlement before that - so they must have provided them with some possible survival scenario otherwise they wouldn't have paid it and I would assume OFGEM would make a decision by now.
Another option I guess would be to raise tarriffs but that would badly impact customers number..0 -
Around 40 minutes ago, their CEO posted this on the TE Users Group Facebook page :For everybody that is wondering what is happening, I want to reassure you all that we are working very hard on the fundraising. We are not planning to go anytime soon. We are working closely with Ofgem to re-assure them too.. Ofgem has to do what they have to do by statutory regulatory function but it doesn't mean we have to drop dead. If we decide to hang up our boots, you will hear it from me. I 100% promise I will tell you. Until then, we keep working in the background to make things happen. Everything will be alright! Stick with us! We will win!We have been working soooo hard on so many things and we are sure it will all bear fruit!A more improved joining experience once we relaunch! For those looking to renew your tariffs, the system for doing that directly online will be released very soon.
I guess only time will tell.7 -
Hard to tell what this even means.. all I get is some short term reassurance but who knows.
I do feel like if they haven't accepted customers who's meters they can't read (and that costs them a lot of money - £80 here, £40 there, heavily discounted bills etc.) then their model could look interesting to investors with Tomatopia, not relying on third party systems - but now with sales ban, dropping number of customers could be really tricky.
Anyway, still not planning to leave, soon to hit 1st anniversary with them, seeing what happened to Rebel customers in worst case scenario (SOLR) I expect to be moved to EON Next, Octopus Go.. without needing to prove I have EV
Every month I save enough to cover a week on SOLR with SVR.

On another note is the EO taking on cases for TE? as my complaint I raised on the 28th Aug is still on hold

Yeap. Im with Tomato energy with my EV. So far so good 👍😁coupleuk said:Looking at Tomato Energy for our electric only property.
They are offering 12M FIXED Tariffs which are based on your chosen lifestyle - with Daily Standing Charge as low as 40.82p
The tariff Im looking at gives me a Unit Rate of;
00:00 to 06:00 = 5.00p
06:00 to 09:30 = 23.16p
09:30 to 11:30 = 13.37p
11:30 to 22:00 = 23.16p
22:00 to 00:00 = 13.37p
Its the low Standing Charge that appeals most - with the few reduced hours a bonus on top.
These are FIXED for 12 Months
Is anyone with Tomato?1 -
Just sticking it out with TE as did an exercise to lower usage and binned the second car, older EV. Fingers crossed TE continues.0

From my experience initially after case has passed checks, the first process is they allow the supplier to offer a resolution, I expect if the supplier doesnt respond there may be a period of time you have to wait out, thats my speculative guess as to why nothing might be happening. Although you should have had some kind of initial contact from the EO even if its just an email.0 -
My caseworker gave me a 30 minute telephone conversation 5 days after i lodged the complaint.Chrysalis said:HillStreetBlues said:
