I'm awaiting some compensation from Tomato Energy payable to my bank account, is it safe to switch away before receiving it, or will this complicate things if no longer with them?

If they go bust before paying the compo, you're out of luck either way.

Just leave DD active. As odds on that is how they will pay it.

Dont worry. The CEO has posted on Facebook saying all is well. The winding up petition has already been dealt with and they have sent lots of docs to Ofgem to prove they are solvent and compatible with the licensing conditions.

Not sure ending up with numerous winding petitions and the parent company that owns it having its accounts 6 months overdue will wash with Ofgem but there we go.

Sounds absolutely fine then. No problems at all. Trouble is, some of us remember the bullish positivity of Robert Maxwell.

They make a manual payment not related to DD

The CEO certainly seems to go overboard with his positivity

Some providers use DD status to verify the account is still active, so best not to cancel before compo unless you have good reason.

Well I wasn't planning on cancelling the DD myself, but I wonder if switching away would send a trigger to automatically cancel it?
