Tomato Energy (Electric Only Supplier) - Too Good To Be True ?

Overall, yes, a small ripple, but the gap between the distributed energy and the declared consumed energy is redistributed as part of the balancing mechanism costs so ultimately it is the consumers in general who pay.QrizB said:masonic said:QrizB said:Eventually the bill will need to be paid, most likely from Tomato's assets. What happens if there are no assets available to settle the unbilled consumption? Say all of the assets are funnelled away into one of the other companies through inter-company service charges.Who would bear the loss? The energy producers who sold to TE? Or the humble end consumer through inflated prices? If I was to guess, I'd say the whosale market participants; it'll be written off as one more system loss. Tomato is too small (0.2% of households?) to make a ripple.

What is the difference between those meters?Bendo said:HillStreetBlues said:I'm suppose to be getting a smart meter at the end of the month via TE, will have to look at their tariffs to see if a swap is worthwhile.
Be careful and make sure its a SMETS2 meter. There are reports of them fitting RCAMR meters which are usually used by commercial suppliers. Other domestic suppliers won't want anything to do with and will just refuse to quote.

Shot version is that one can transmit data to the current supplier (RCAMR), the other (SMETS2) is a fully compliant smart meter connecting to the DCC network and so can be switched to any other supplier..HillStreetBlues said:

Is there an easy way to tell those meters apart?

Lengthy email from TE today - confirming the usage has been written-off, wont be back-billed later and all I have to pay are the 40p a day Standing Charges.coupleuk said:Bendo said:I'm sure at some point you will end up with some form of bill...
TE have also emailed to confirm the 2 meter moves I instigated for June 9th and 11th.
Suggest anyone else without bills for months also considers writing to them with the kind offer to move (on condition of usage write off)5 -
Are you planning to pay off the SC ASAP? as feel that would be wise.coupleuk said:
