I've never seen that happen before.wakeupalarm said:Well I wasn't planning on cancelling the DD myself, but I wonder if switching away would send a trigger to automatically cancel it?0 -
They can’t cancel it AFAIK , but they can’t use it to access payments to them without being liable for clawback. When you have the repayment then cancel it .masonic said:

I must admit I'm very lax in cleaning out old DDs. Never had any issues, but in this case I'd probably make an exception and cancel once they've paid me what they owe me.debitcardmayhem said:

I've had some suppliers cancel the DD from their end once it was no longer needed, the C&G mortgage for example. So it's possible.debitcardmayhem said:

Was the bill correct according to your own records, any half hour readings missing?Chrysalis said:I got final bill today.Forgot what the rules are for time limit for final bills?
Switch date was 17 April.
You are due £40.
Thank you. There is no gaps, but because I have not witnessed any shenanigans from TE on previous billings, I have given them the benefit of the doubt for the full bill, the monetary value is not inconsistent with previous bills for the time period and similar lifestyle usage. I read masonics post about a 2nd compensation if they fail to remedy it, so waiting a bit longer, then will claim the compensation for both.

Lengthy email from TE today - confirming the usage has been written-off, wont be back-billed later and all I have to pay are the 40p a day Standing Charges.coupleuk said:Bendo said:I'm sure at some point you will end up with some form of bill...
TE have also emailed to confirm the 2 meter moves I instigated for June 9th and 11th.
Suggest anyone else without bills for months also considers writing to them with the kind offer to move (on condition of usage write off)
They do seem so much more pro consumer than Octopus, cant argue with that customer service, accepting liability for their failure. Did you do this via email to their standard address? So I know best way when asking for my compensation.0 -
I was going to reply only the customer can, but I have seen companies actually cancel DD's for idle accounts, but thats usually for credit style services like catalogues and credit cards. Never seen it with a utility company.wakeupalarm said:Well I wasn't planning on cancelling the DD myself, but I wonder if switching away would send a trigger to automatically cancel it?0 -

So I know best way when asking for my compensation.... but they are 'accepting liability' by making grand gestures that they cannot afford with their own money ...Having read more about their origins I do feel they started out with good intentions, they just came to this very under-capitalised and then got overwhelmed with the volume growth before their systems were mature enough to cope.... add in a few poor judgements in how they were managing cash-flow, especially forecasting and building reserves to meet their market obligations and that is how you get to where they are today. If they had been able to stay as a service provider to the industry they could have been building a rival to Kraken, but stepping over into being their own energy provider appears to be something they were not really ready for...

Issues like taking on SMETS1 customers for month after month without being able to bill them is just breathtakingly bad. Also shows up issues with regulation related to minimal levels of reserves to enter the market. Perhaps a customer cap relative to levels of capital.I am a strong believer that companies should be liable for things they are responsible for going wrong. But of course agree they need to be run in a way they have cashflow for it.0 -
My pevious bills have been more or less on time, but I haven't received mine for 31 May. There's no data in My Watts since last Sunday. That's never been more than one day behind until now. Does anyone else have the same problem?0
