Pleased you've got the meeting out if the way now @grandmanerd, & your DSs are witnesses to what niece & brother have said they'll do it have agreed on.
Glad you've got your contract now @lcc86, it'll all start to seem real now!
Up at 6.30, woke up DS3, then DS1 an hour later. Did my Norwegian & made stir fried veg & rice for today & tomorrow's dinners. Work went better than I'd imagined, though kept biting my tongue at the new teacher teaching things way above their level. Had a good catch up with the secretary at lunchtime. She gave me a new sproutmas jumper yesterday, as having a clear out before her son & his family move back.
My brother phoned before tea, wanting me to do a reference for his partner of 12 years, who I've only met @4 times!
Saw our class of 5 year olds on 2 different news programmes. Did 2 lots of sewing.
Grateful for a customer being delighted with the alterations I'd done to his Ghostbusters costume, 2 messages from new customers before 8.30am! Today going better than I'd imaginedUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Yesterday afternoon I fell asleep. Woke up after 5 pm, more rested and my back not quite so tense. Made myself get up to put out 2 sacks of cans (the ones from my room and the ones from the front room), add them to the brown bin and put it out for collection. Noticed one green bin out for collection so asked DS3 to put those out as well. Offered him the emptied sacks for Beloved's cans and bottles but he said she'd already collected hers and he would deal with them when he put the green bins out.
Read between more sleeping (I had my morning pills before 6 am but have been asleep at least twice since then and only just had my shower). I've eaten easy peelers, 6 opal fruits and the last few wraps from the 3rd pack. My plan for the day is to go to the SM and deliver 5 filled bags to the css in the mall on the way. I'm aiming to get there between the lunchtime rush (does that still happen - women loaded down with shopping bags, queuing in the bank and trying to get everything done before rushing back to work to inhale a sandwich) and the pre and after school collection times. I'm having a taxi back and then (if I've any energy left) I'll continue with stuffing rubbish into takeaway bags and bin bags.
For now I'm just letting myself dry slowly and being grateful that the laptop came on after initially refusing. I think I've been stretched too far and been too wound up and tense for far too long and just need to let my body go back to normal (I still have to phone the bank at some point and arrange to go to Bolton to set up new accounts but that is for another day).
Grateful to just BE for a while, support from the boys and the bed (though utterly grateful to be getting rid of it next week).8 -
SM trip is off for now. It looks like it's going to chuck it down and, despite liberal applications of ibuprofen gel, my knees barely made it to the top of the street. I'm going to stay here and pack charity donations in bags and bag up rubbish and recyclables. The toilet rolls have come so if I make it back downstairs later, I'll remove the outer boxes and bring the actual toilet rolls in boxes upstairs. There's lots I can do, it just depends how much I can move.
I would also like to 'make' my bed. Last night the sheet (which needs to go down for washing) ended up on the bathroom floor to soak up the puddles on the floor, an old nightdress soaked up water on the landing and I slept on and in an assortment of clothes. I'm going to do a clothes purge. If you have to ask if parts of your body are visible through the holes in your clothes before you leave the house, then I think we can safely say that those clothes have reached the end of their useful life (they may be used as cleaning cloths, especially for the floors). You also have to be careful how you phrase your question as DS3 and Beloved fell about laughing when I asked.
I have put the old clothes on thinking I wouldn't go further than the yard and then gone outside wearing them. I'd got as far as the traffic lights before I thought about it and then carried on as it was a bit late if someone had noticed and no-one gasped or fell on the pavement, pointing and laughing.
Congratulations on the new job Icc and once again sorry about moaning about the Estate but this should have been concluded months ago and I want my life back.

Totally understandable @mothernerd / @grandmanerd. This absolutely should have been wrapped up, . We are all stood behind you in spirit.
Not posting much as have been in Ireland and that Estate winding-up is going to be horrific, when the time comes. DH won't have 'the conversation ' and the in-laws seem to think I will be better at it than their kids, I am practically doing yoga to avoid that bullet. I am not volunteering for that role until it becomes necessary. Anyway, they are starting to realise they are heading towards decade #8 and they live in the middle of nowhere.....
GCSE results are out on Thursday, so am just keeping everyone calm, and I may or may not have sent the two eldest a job advert for 'Elves' at a local garden centre.

grandmanerd, one of the miracles of that meeting must surely be to have had all 3 of your boys together and not arguing? (Forgive me if I'm remembering them wrongly and casting aspersions.)Today I am grateful for finding the necessary underwear in m+s, for enjoying going to the gym, for scrambled egg, for Pip spending the afternoon at a friend's house and said friend's parents offering to bring him home at some point, for a little more order in the kitchen.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

I started off some redcurrant and gooseberry jelly this morning. It is currently dripping through the jelly bag. Tomorrow I will finish it by boiling with sugar till it reaches setting point, then potting it up. Also made a small amount of plum jam, which set before it reached temperature, so will be a bit more solid than I would prefer. It tastes nice though! Also sowed some seeds, some in pots and some in a bare patch of raised bed, and did a bit of weeding. This afternoon we did the weekly shop, so not a NSD. I have totally lost track of those unfortunately. Perhaps next month, with no weddings and hopefully no funerals I will be able to keep track better. No watering needed tonight, but I picked another colander full of tomatoes. OH foraged some blackberries, which have been washed and gone into the freezer.6

@grandmanerd. Have you tried CBT gel? I find it amazing.

Thursday 23rd August 2024
I think I missed a few celebrations and I've found some more weird ones so if you need a reason to celebrate, see if any of these fit the bill.
August
17 Baby Boomers Recognition Day
18 Bad Poetry Day
19 National Potato Day
20 National Bacon Lovers Day
21 Cupcake Day
22 National Be an Angel Day
23 Valentino Day (the anniversary of his death) I remember my grandma saying how much they all swooned over him and his death drew a crowds along the route of the procession
24 Iconic American Restaurants Day
25 National Banana Split Day One banana, two banana, three banana, four, four bananas playing in the bright pool sun
26 Women's Equality Day
27 Kiss Me Day
28 Race Your Mouse Day
29 Lemon Juice Day (my mum's birthday)
30 National toasted marshmallows Day
31 Eat Outside Day
And if none of these suit, make up your own day, celebrating you - you have to be more important than a potato or a toasted marshmallow.

Stayed upstairs all day. DS3 brought me food and I asked him to bring me the remainder of my cans this morning. It looks a bit wet for the SM (which is going to be taxis both ways) and I have more cans than expected so I'll manage on caffeinated drinks for a day or two, even if I get a bit twitchy.
The sheet went down for washing, the old nightie is now on the bathroom floor (it had a bleach accident at mum's, mum loved bleach, I think it's the work of the devil - she soaked our hankies in it when we were little and a bleach soaked hanky is incredibly painful when your nose is already red and sore). I've just added my funeral dress to the donation pile and the jacket will probably join it. I've added 2 more carriers to my stash so today's plan
1) Fill 7 carrier bags for the cs (there are 2 pairs of curtains and a throw, more books and a further clothes trawl
2) Start to get things for next Wednesday's bulky waste collection downstairs (I intend to tell DS3 one item at a time)
3) Cardboard box collection from their room (the new ones they bought for moving will be used to replace the wardrobe that's going and make a new privacy screen
4) Anything else I can get my hands on (mobility is still minimal) I already have nearly full paper and rubbish bags and a can bag.
5) Plan something nice
Grateful for lots of sleep and feeling calmer (I'll get through this, I've got through worse), my boys, friends (planning to send some notes, granddaughter photos and birthday greetings)8
