Good afternoon ☔
Had a lovely day yesterday - planned spend day with a friend, met for lunch and then went for a cocktail afterwards. It ended up being a free day as cashed in some money I'd accrued on my shopping app 🥳 We had a laugh and did my soul good.
Today was a spend day as treated myself to a ☕ with the left over cashback from yesterday (still free!). I know it's against the MSE law but I do love a nice coffee and I rarely go out these days. It's one of my guilty pleasures. And did I mention it was FREE haha!!!
Made a few more debt payments. Am being super savvy - paying just over minimums each month, then putting remaining money set aside for debt repayments in a high interest savings account. At some point the balance will = the remainder of what I owe and I can clear them all. All my cards are at 0% interest and they get swapped around as they run out. With the interest I should reach my DFD a bit sooner 😊
Yesterday I was grateful for:
1) Laughs with my friend and her support
2) Having food in my fridge to use up
3) Losing 2lbs!!!
Today I am grateful for:
1) My online game - good stress relief
2) A call with my sister and for her support
3) A lovely lazy coffee morning at home
Today = NSD number 11 (still)
Have a lovely day everyone!

Ugh, work today and I was shattered, both from not sleeping at all well last night, and the effects of the events of the last few months. Working again tomorrow so hoping to sleep better tonight!I really need to finish the redcurrant and gooseberry jelly tonight. This involves heating the juice, dissolving the sugar and boiling until setting point is reached. The potting it, and all the resultant washing up. It is only a small amount, so won't take too long, so I will get it done. It shouldn't take too long. There is a roast chicken dinner to be cooked before I can do this though. OH will do most of it - he generally cooks when I am working. Trouble is, the chicken has only just gone in, and I am starving8

5 bags to the donation bank at little Arseda, rubbish, paper and can bags/ sacks out (1 bin brought back). Three boxes were cut up yesterday and I've asked them to root out more from their room. Most of the bathroom floor was cleaned on Wednesday, using up one cleaning product and one rag, with a 1/4 of a towel and another cloth used on various bits (most of the floor because my leg stopped working). A small shop after putting things in the donations hopper and called at the library on the way back for new books (mostly light reading).
The weather can't make it's mind up, mostly cold and clear but sometimes sunny alternating with dark grey skies, rain and whipping the trees into a frenzy winds. I wanted to do something nice today but it's not picnic weather (hot soup and toasted teacakes maybe). I want to be amongst cuddly animals but couldn't think of anywhere near me so I'm on the couch with a bag of food (just put some away in the fridge) and a bag of books and doing the odd sweep round filling a bag of things to go (more OOD food - luckily most was 'free' in the first place like garlic and herb dip from DS3's pizza). Washing is on the line and I'm loading the next lot.
Grateful for books, picnic food, DS3 and Beloved being asleep.8 -

Haven't posted for a few days as it's been absolutely manic at work this week. Got court reports coming out of my ears and am wasting time dealing with abusive parents.... *sigh* thank goodness it's Friday! I'm on call tonight for the last time, can't wait to see the back of these shifts, although they have been helpful for extra money.
I've completely lost track of NSD's but I am within budget so not too worried. Got paid today and have finalised next month's budget. Should be more or less debt free.
I am going to book a spa break for the gap between jobs, I'm owed some money for unused annual leave from work so will pay it off with that money.
Currently at the gym on the recumbent bike my back pain is back with a vengeance and I'm confused as to whether this steroid injection has helped at all.... slightly fed up of going round in circles with nothing much helping. But this weekend is a chance to relax, I have physio first thing tomorrow and plan to take things nice and easy!7 -

NSD#12
A whirlwind few days, involving early starts, late nights, work, sewing & mum's taxi.
My week at work has gone well (had been dreading it all through the holidays). The support teacher & class teacher are both pleased with my work with the new to me pupil & have reported back to the head teacher, one has also highlighted the incompetencies of my colleague who usually works with said pupil.
Managed to do some knitting tonight, at long last. Just have the sleeve cuff to finish & then the but to turn it from a jumper to a cardigan.
Grateful for a good week, knitting time, watching TV with DS1 & his GF.Use it up, wear it out

Wet weather this morning. We are supposed to be going to an outdoor event later. Maybe it will stop raining before then. We will take a packed lunch, so no spending (it is an invite event, no entry fee or similar).Ought to do a few jobs before I make sandwiches. I have jam to label and put away, and the dining table to sort out, as all kinds of stuff has accumulated on there, as it tends to do.7

Good afternoon ☔
Had a quiet day in to myself yesterday, with just a quick trip to the shops. Feeling poor because I don't have much in my grocery/spends budget, but have to remind myself I'm ahead already for next month - having put aside money for some categories. I'm trying to get a month ahead - it just takes time.
Yesterday I was grateful for:
1) Peace and quiet
2) A voucher for a free soft 500ml drink pop
3) A lovely bath
Today I am grateful for:
1) Budget balancing
2) Finding willpower to resist buying new trainers. Have a clothes budget but not enough saved.
3) More peace and quiet
Yesterday = spend day

Have a lovely day everyone!

Didn't go to the planned event as it didn't stop raining till early afternoon. Might go tomorrow instead.I tidied the dining room as intended, and started a fridge clear out. I froze some very ripe brie de mieux which OH had bought mistakenly. Not to my taste as it is, but perfectly usable in cooking. Made shortcrust pastry, and once chilled, made a quiche shell, an apple and strawberry pie (stewed apple plus strawberries on the turn in the fridge) and what the kids used to call 'pastry thing' with the remains. Basically, it is leftover pastry bits rolled out, dotted with butter and sprinkled with brown sugar and dried fruit, then folded to cover the filling, rolled gently to flatten, brushed with water and sprinkled with a bit more brown sugar and baked. Makes cake / biscuit things which are often more popular than what the pastry was originally made forAnd I still have a couple more fridge shelves to investigate...6
