Just a quick heads-up for anyone reading this thread to be careful if anyone contacts you claiming to be from Trading 212 via Whatsapp.
I’ve seen posts on Reddit where scammers pretend to be official support on there. From what I know, T212 don’t use WhatsApp for any kind of support or account-related communication. If someone messages you on WhatsApp saying they’re from T212, it’s almost certainly a scam.

This isn't just a T212 thing. Any contact via WhatsApp related to financials is likely to be a scam, unless from a company's authorised WhatsApp channel, and even then, only if you've contacted them first.perfectlegend94 said:Just a quick heads-up for anyone reading this thread to be careful if anyone contacts you claiming to be from Trading 212 via Whatsapp.

It appears I've been misled by previous information in forums from when I first joined T212 as to the use of WhatsApp for customers to contact T212 only, never the other way around.MeteredOut said:

It's not a method I ever attempted as I've only ever used the messaging service in my online account so I've just double checked and, no they do not use WhatsApp in any way, therefor I'm going to edit my earlier post to avoid confusion.
Absolutely agree with both comments of course regarding any communication from any source (not only WhatsApp) that's not expected or initiated by yourself. If any such communication was received then it should absolutely be seen as highly suspicious & it would be wise to get in touch via the correct & proper channels provided in the App or Online Accounts to enquire & check if anything is amiss.

Yesterday T212 sent an email about this and it says that it will never use third party messaging apps:Czure said:
