Anyone done this yet through the app?

I've just set up 2 x 50p direct debits onto my TSB account which I'm switching from into this (as the final TSB £10 bonus was received today)

As the 2 x direct debits won't show or be debited for another week or so, does the Barclays account give you the option to select the actual switch date, or do you not get the option.
    Hi,
How did you set up your 50p DDs please? Thanks

I checked back and discovered I switched to Barclays in May 2018 to take advantage of a double blue rewards incentive they were offering.   Although this wasn't strictly a cash incentive and I'm not currently a customer, I think I'm right that the wording of the t & c would exclude me from this one?

It would, but I'd be inclined to try it anyway if you have an account and hard search you can spare.

    Hi,

Google 50 pence direct debits, it's a company that sets up direct debits that cost 50p a month. They start after a few days, I've used them for a few bank switches this year. There is a 30p company mentioned on page 1 of this thread by hillstreetblues.

No, but Plum and Moneybox are also free options if you've not already got one going. @Bridlington1 has a useful thread with even more ideas (although most take ages to setup, so might not be suitable for use in conjuction with this particular offer):

I've just been rejected an Account with Barclays they can only offer me a Basic one,  apparently my credit score isn't strong enough at 999 Experian. How bizarre.

Well they'll have their own way of determining your worthiness instead of whatever arbitrary number experian gives you. Something might have spooked them that experian didn't think anything about, like maybe your income or something like that. Otherwise it could just be a commercial decision and they didn't think they'd make any money from you.

Nobody sees that score except you, it had no part in the decision. If anything 999 can be because you have no credit history so no-one knows what risk you are

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Why we're offering you this account
Based on your credit information, you're not eligible for our other current accounts right now. This could be for a number of reasons:

    • Your credit history isn't strong enough?
    • You've defaulted on a loan or credit card NO
    • You've had a County Court Judgment in your name NO
    • You've been declared bankrupt NO
    • You're on a debt management plan NO

100% not the case, I've got loads of history not perfect but am well in my 20% of active credit usage etc no missed payments etc, mortgage up to date.

First time I've ever been rejected for a Current account so a little bamboozled.

    I guess I'll never know.
