If my current bank switch completes without the two direct debits from the switched account also going over (I was a little premature requesting the switch before the two direct debits were showing),
can I just set up another switch from a chase burner account with two direct debits (obviously once they're showing!)?

Or is only the first bank switch eligible for the cashback?
Fairly certain you can't use the CASS for another account switch into an already open account having used the CASS in the first place
... you can CASS in to the same account as many times as you like; you can even start multiple simultaneously if for example you have several accounts you wish to rationalise down to a single one.
Usually terms guard against repeatedly getting bonuses in a short period, but I have a Natwest account which has received 2 bonuses, a Lloyds account which has received 2 bonuses and a Halifax account which I think has had 3 but could be 4. This is because these banks have a non-static window over which eligibility is tested, and offer existing customers the chance to partake, so eventually a bonus'ed account becomes eligible for a fresh one.
Barclays terms say that you'll be ineligible for a payment if you've received one before - so there's no opportunity for double dipping (for cash payments at least) as things stand; either over time or within the same offer period. They also say you need to be a new customer, which clearly you wouldn't be if you're CASS'ing for the second or subsequent time.
(Incidentally, I've had 2 CASS bonuses from Barclays in the same account in 2018 and 2019, but neither of these were straightforward cash bonuses, and the terms didn't used to prevent previous switchers nor existing customers - things change!)

I've just been rejected an Account with Barclays they can only offer me a Basic one,  apparently my credit score isn't strong enough at 999 Experian. How bizarre.
Nobody sees that score except you, it had no part in the decision. If anything 999 can be because you have no credit history so no-one knows what risk you are
Why we're offering you this account
Based on your credit information, you're not eligible for our other current accounts right now. This could be for a number of reasons:

    • Your credit history isn't strong enough?
    • You've defaulted on a loan or credit card NO
    • You've had a County Court Judgment in your name NO
    • You've been declared bankrupt NO
    • You're on a debt management plan NO

100% not the case, I've got loads of history not perfect but am well in my 20% of active credit usage etc no missed payments etc, mortgage up to date.

First time I've ever been rejected for a Current account so a little bamboozled.

    I guess I'll never know.

Check Equifax and TransUnion too (Clear Score and Credit Karma), check your Experian report (don't pay for it, get the free one). The score itself didn't play any part in this but there could be something else they don't like on your history

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Also worth considering submitting DSARs to CIFAS and National Hunter (the anti-fraud agencies) for good measure. It's unlikely, but there could be something on your records there which might also be impacting things.

Anyone having issues with the app?

I've created my account a couple of days ago, gone to log back into the app today to initiate the switch and I keep getting 00002 error when trying to log in.
I've reached out to Barclays, who have responded they may need to 'delete my previous registrations'.

First time I've had technical difficulties with any bank!

If it's any consolation, I too have been declined  :(.

I too have an excellent report from MSE Credit Club / TransUnion and Equifax and no financial skeletons, this is is also the first time I've been rejected.

I too think this is a commercial decision, however I have been advised it's not my income being too low, but I have opened three accounts in the last four months.

You can appeal the decision which means you can book an appointment in branch whereupon they will 'resume' the application to get more information from a code. It may then be possible to provide more information, in my case the reason for opening several current accounts is for their regular savers. I have booked my appointment for Monday.
Likewise been declined ..first time…no issues with my credit record…basic account only which doesn’t qualify 🤨

  • Anyone done this yet through the app?

Have tried twice now, and failed each time. Despite being a dinosaur and living in my current cave for more than a decade, it says it can't verify my ID and I have to visit a branch, which I am unable to do. (And don't want to, frankly.)

  • Any issues signing up, photo id needed / debit card details needed from old account etc?
Yes. Have tried twice now, and failed each time. Despite being a dinosaur and living in my current cave for more than a decade, it says it can't verify my ID (used my driving licence and had to do a video looking to the right and repeating some numbers) and that I have to visit a branch, which I am unable to do. (And don't want to, frankly.)

I can't even get that far lol
It asks me to select Barclays Debit, Credit, Other. I pick Other, then asks for my name+DOB from my Barclays acccount (which I do not have). Even if I give them my details, it tells me that I can only register with the following options Debit, Credit, Beta Credit, Mortgage, Instalments for Amazon partner Finance, Barclays Investment, or 'I don't have any of these'. If I pick the last option it tells me that these are the only ways to register and prompts me to go back or cancel it. I don't think I've ever such a hard time opening an account before...

Same here.  Opened the new account in the App earlier this week, joined their Blue Rewards at the same time and have had a couple of emails from them since.  But now cannot log in without that 00002 error showing.  Haven't yet received any card, etc in the post.

When do they take the initial £5 for joining blue rewards & when do you get it credited back? (appreciate it's only credited back for the next two months I believe)

    Cheers
