My view (could be wrong) is as long as they are showing on old account.
I wouldn't have thought the new bank would know that they hadn't been taken from old bank.

Myself and 3 other family members who’ve all held Barclays accounts in the past but then closed them have all been declined for it today. They’re becoming choosy like first direct! Previously was able to have multiple accounts.

That's how I read it - however it does say 'The first monthly fee will be taken in the month after you join Barclays Blue Rewards' - so doesn't that mean a £5 fee will apply for July (even if a partial month) and will be taken on the second working day of August?

For the switch offer, you only have to join blue rewards - there’s nothing in the terms that says you have to keep blue rewards open to qualify, so you could close it before the end of July to avoid the fee completely.

Indeed, used as main account for around 5 years! Not like they were burner accounts or anything. Quite shocked as usually never declined for a current account apart from First Direct who have never given me an account.

I've just switched out after the blue rewards news and was going to try and take advantage of this offer but looks like this might be a non starter.

Even if you pay for Blue Rewards twice, it's still a £165 profit. Easy money.

Am I right in thinking that you would need to sign up to the rewards for at least 2 months to get the bonus? Basic account or not.
