@Valli No, I never minded about etchasketch although I was always very jealous of people who had a spirograph but I don't mind not having one now.  A tin of Caran D'Ache colouring pencils.  I've recently discovered Kew used to do colouring books that are just beautiful and one of those and a tin of Caran D'Ache 40 colours will be absolutely perfect for our friend's 60th b'day.  She has a really responsible stressful job and she loves colourful things.  It'll help her switch off.  The first Kew book I bought her had several plates already coloured in so I've bought her an As New one and am now on the hunt for a tin of colours for me!  I don't mind using the Used one at all.
Being a services child we used to move very often, and when we moved continents I was only allowed to take three toys with me.  I managed to salvage some of my favourite toys but there were a few, 'Oh, they got lost in storage / transit' several times when we just moved countries and  I was told I could take more than three.  I've reached an age when I don't mind indulging my flights of fancy occasionally, especially when its frivolous.
    Better is good enough.
