The answer is a definate yes, I will definately go back to Vegas! Being home seems so flat, un-exciting and ordinary! lol.

This was our first trip to the USA and we were very very impressed with everything. Normally we holiday in europe and due to the fact there are 6 of us (2 adults + 4 children under 12), then it works out pretty expensive. I think that our Las Vegas trip has given me to the confidence to book independantly from travel agents and am looking now into a trip to Florida with the kids.
I've just discovered that my daughter's friend's grandparents have a villa in Florida, so I'm already a step closer.

Glad so many enjoyed my trip report. :D

We have looked at most options now & I'm glad you said it's easy to move from hotel to hotel.

We have decided to stay at Bill's for 2 nights & the MGM for the remaining 5 nights. Bill's has excellent reviews & it has a great location, plus it's only $130 for 2 nights :T

We're eally looking forward to it - thanks you for your help.

All I need to do now is sort the train tickets from Glasgow-Manchester & 1 night at a hotel either in or near the airport.

    Thanks again!!

    Hi David,

I see that you want to book a hotel either in or near Manchester airport.

Well, for our last two trips to Vegas from Manchester we have done the same thing as you are planning - get there the night before so that check in isnt too bad in the morning! Both times we have stayed in the Radison SAS - it is the only hotel actually IN the airport. You can actually walk with your case from your room to the check in desk all undercover in about 10 - 15 minutes (depending upon the weight of your case!!).

I can thoroughly recommend the rooms and service. I have actually just booked again for this year - we are stopping there on Sat 28 June for our flight on Sun 29th. This year the room has cost £99 (Room Only). Last year it was £115 and the year before I think it was £120 - so the price seems to be going down!!!! (Only because I now book WELL in advance I think). The Radisson doesnt seem to be included in hotel booking websites like Superbreak et al (though I may be wrong) but I know £99 is certainly the cheapest that I have found. This time I've booked directly through their website. I'm sure that you can get a cheaper hotel elsewhere, but the convenience of this one far outweights these - for me anyway.

If you do end up staying there be warned - there are two restaurants - a "posh" one an a "not so posh" one - The first year we ate in the posh one and it was expensive but DIVINE. Last year it was expensive and WELL BELOW PARR.... My advice would be stick to the cheaper option.

    Hope this info helps.

One thing we found about Florida, if you plan to do Disney, booking from the UK site is much cheaper than booking from the US site - at least as far as the park passes go...I was really surprised as it's usually the other way around.

    Also, hi from Vegas. :)

It's LOVELY here...weather is perfect for us - supposed to warm up to the 80s early next week too.

The slots are not being as kind as ideal - though I'm doing better than my husband...at least one of us is doing OK and can help the other out...hopefully things will change as I won about $100 this morning having a cigarette while hubby was getting ready...start as you mean to go on and all.

$20 trick worked a treat - got upgraded from a classic room to a deluxe (and diamond) room at Bally's...decent view for the north tower, nice refurbished room...happy with that.

And a 2 free Show in the Sky voucher in the vouchers we received at check-in - bonus as we were planning on doing that with a 2-for-1. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Thanks Steff!!

I have just priced it at £159. It's a bit too pricey for 1 night (8th April) I'm afraid although the link would've saved getting a taxi into the airport.

We initially pencilled in the Travelodge at £29 but it has gone up to £66. I'm having trouble trying to get good train fare prices too from Glasgow. ANyway we're 3 quarters there, just the final touches to sort.

    Thanks again!!

Hello, I just want to say what a great thread this is! I'm off with my other half in July ( i know the hottest month!) for 6 nights to Vegas. I'm looking to stay at either MGM grand or the Venetian. At the moment there isn't a real differnce in price between the 2 hotels for stays between 10th-16th July. Is it worth holding out and booking nearer the time? What's people's experience of hotel booking?

    Hi,

I booked the MGM Grand last night using this link - superb prices. Give it a go as it may work in well with your dates.

The 1st nights price plus tax is taken initially as a deposit & it can be cancelled should a better offer come along.

But precede that with a prefix code to get calls from about 1p per minute - I use 'nifty list' to find one. ;)

    Star Buck,

With most Vegas hotels you can book now & pay the first night deposit, if a better deal comes along you can cancel, get your deposit back, and book again at the new price. I've done this numerous times with the MGM Grand over the last few months.

Just make sure that the initial booking can be cancelled, most of the MGM Grands can.

    Hope that helps.

    Stew
